Contract with 300 Reps

Seriously, wake up. When contract reps are brought on it means they are prepping for a lay off. If you do not get your resume out there right now, you are toast. Forest is in trouble financially and the pipeline is not very strong. Why do you think they have put every tenured rep who makes 85K or above base on LOC within the last year? So they can fire them and have the $$ back. I feel for all of you who want to keep believing in this company or think that things are going to turn around. Just watch, the smart managers will start leaving for other jobs. This is not survivor my friends, jump ship before it sinks!!!

Yep, 30 DMs and 300 reps. They will be in separate inVentiv
districts but no difference otherwise. I keep reading references to "customer service reps" $35K, paid on calls, etc; that's not the model here. These teams will be fully trained and very experienced pharmaceutical sales reps. They will have exactly the same expectations, resources etc as the Forest reps. More people to drive the business...don't understand how that's bad. Anyone wants to come and help me make more bonus is welcome!

Dude, you are on serious bipolar medication.
This is obv some corporate monkey or management talking.
Do you not see that lexapro is going generic in a few weeks? Which represents
About 70% of forest profit?
Do you not see the flop of Daliresp??
Do you not see Vibryd not living up to
Expectations and will never come close
To the popularity and profit potential of lexapro?
Namenda is going generic as well.

What do you have to look forward to?
A diarrhea drug with a tiny market, which will
Probably be delayed?
Another COPD med which does not display any
Additional benefits over spiriva?

Get your facts please before you post mumbo jumbo.

you got me thinking...

how many tenured reps, making 85k bases were put on LOC?

is it more than the average for reps not making as much or not as long with frx?

I am willing to bet this is and will continue to happen

wonder if Ottinger Law firm wants to add this to the overtime case... time to find out!

Unfortunately the industry has turned toward the CSO. As profit margins shrink, more generics and fewer FDA approvals it's a cost saving way of doing business. They can ramp up and cut as needed with no cost to them. Look around the industry, everyone is cutting back and those companies are outsourcing.

AZ is in the process right now of switching out all there regular reps for CSO reps. Only a matter of time before they all do it. It used to be CSO reps were crap, but now you can hire an A+ sales force of experienced reps and pay them half what you are paying your current sales force. If you are smart you are working an an exit plan to a good job in another industry. Good luck everyone this beginning of the end.

this is the best advice I have read so far. Only a DAMN FOOL would ignore it. Everyubody needs to be working on a good exit plan, either out of FRX or to another industry. If it happens now, or later, the hay days are over. CSO reps are the wave of the future with over 300,000 or more phara reps out of work or looking, the caliber of the contract rep has been raised or flooded with experienced reps so nobody can use the argument of young inexperienced reps with no relationships.

Guess what Publicis is doing now. They now have a new sales force model for primary care. Reps are paid $35,000 per year just to LEAVE samples and a PI. NO product detailing in an effort to avoid PDMA issues. The reps have NO product training and therefore pose very little liability. If a physician has a question they fill out a request form on the tablet which immediately goes to a MSL for prompt follow up with the physician. Part of the mentality with hiring the Inventiv primary care sales force was to hire a great deal of non-pharma sales people for the teams. Believe me I know this as fact. They want a mixture of 1-2 year pharma and b2b or other low level sales. They want people who "dont have bad habits". Its more like they want people who aren't on to how disposable they are and work them like mules for 2 years then with the "possibility" of being kept on will as you know be let go for sure. Yeah piss on my back and tell me its raining Forest. How stupid do you think these Inventiv managers are?

This industry has outsourced the contract reps lol.. If you think you will retire in pharmaceutical sales at Forest you are kidding yourself. They think they are cutting edge but are still have a big pharma 1990's mentality. The primary care products are a joke and good luck in hospitals. I understand some NYC teaching hospitals are now excluding all pharmaceutical reps and have hired a Pharm D whose main responsibility is to educate and update physicians on new and existing medication.

These guys at Forest an other companies just don't get it. Still they are like Obama and will have you believe we are doing great. They are lean, profitable and strategic. Wyeth and King were great companies on the NYSE until Pfizer decided to buy them. Don't think it can't happen at Forest. Start to work towards a new skill set. Use the time and money at Forest to protect your future and move on..Otherwise the move will be made for you.

Signed,

Had enough of it already..

Let me guess, you just applied for a job with Forest and did not get it?

So true. An AstraZeneca rep here. We are so embedded with Publicis reps in every aspect. They are even launching a new combo drug for us. Things are changing for the worse. The rep job will soon be the 35K sample dropper. Good Luck!

im a former forest rep brought in at 52 and change with forest and I am on a pu licis contract making 60...no micromanaging or dealing with partners.
yes im worried about contract being cancelled but at least im in with a contract company and qualify for other contracts once this one is over. Believe me EVERYONE that got these jobs had five plus years experience in the industry. sixty is a little lower than the average rep at a normal company but its better than unemployment

I used to work at Forest and did very well. Left due to management changes and did not see eye to eye. Forest was first pharma job and now working for a specialty pharma company, TOTALLY different. Treated like adults, not micro-managed, weekly exp reports, pointless voicemails, check email and voicemail by 7:30 am and again after 5pm.."forest treats its reps like children! As far as contract reps, my specialty company has Inventive reps and most of them are GREAT! As with any company, there are good and sucky reps. You should be happy to have more people promoting your meds. And, most likely these Inventive reps will be better than your frx counterparts!!! However, I don't understand how this is going to work at frx b/c you already have too many reps calling on all the same docs. So, for those of you who are panic stricken b/c of Inventive, lighten up......most of them are hard working, very bright and in a majority of cases, has MUCH more experience that most frx reps AND frx managers! You may learn a thing or two from them!

This is one of the best posts I have ever read on the Forest thread. And yes, Wyeth was a great company. Their reps had much higher standards than Forest. Forest is a backwards company with outdated strategies. About the only people that think Forest is great are people who have never worked for another pharmaceutical company. There is a reason they like to hire reps with no previous pharmaceutical sales experience! Wake up people! You work for a crappy company.

Compensation at 55-60? Isn't that what they pay their regular reps? And bonus potential? And company vehicle? If that is true, you will all be contract soon.

No dumb dumb. As is well-known, if both new product launches go as planned, these people will be absorbed. If not, they won't. There is no more to it than that. Go send your resume out again. I work for Forest and have not had to think about updating my resume for over 10 years. Joke's not on me.
