Interesting problem.
In the one hand you have the prospect of freedom, no responsibility and a great life with your education.
In the other you have the misery of a woman who doesnt love you, spends all your dough and makes your life feel useless.
There are a number of routes to consider but at the end of the day, I think the kids need to be your starting point in the thinking process. Now I am not saying one way or another what you should do. I really dont give a shit.
If you start to rationalize things from the perspective of a child and how this will be perceived, your solution will be at hand.
You will either be okay with no contact and the guilt of what you have done, or you will work another solution somehow.
Think from that perspective for your answer.
Let me know what you decide!

I am in shock that someone did not respond to this one!!! Even if he was cracked out and got his shit together.....I would Have NEVER taken that whore back after putting my first child in foster care. What a bitch!!! She should be asmaed of herself and she is NO better than the cracked out friend. That child was hurting MORE than she was and she probably did that out of spite. She is not fit ot be a mother and should have them all taken from her (and him too). What the hell is wrong with people???? I would have kept the child and helped them through the hard times, putting that child in foster care sent 2 messages....1. she did not love him like the 2 that had her DNA and 2. he is disposable.

You dont know that ladys situation. Mr fucking crackhead certainly wasnt around to help with bills and all the shit that goes along with 3 kids. Maybe that lady did the best she could but was working down the dollar store and really couldnt afford to put 3 kids in daycare and feed them and all the rest.
Maybe that kid had a better quality of life going through forster care and landing with a family that was better equiped to love and nurture.

Original OP here. I posted the above right before Xmas. In early January I left my wife and kids (believe me it was the best for everyone involved). I found that getting a few identity and linked items (i.e. driver's license, bank acct.) was quicker and easier than I had imagined. There are several online sites which quick surprisingly make it fairly easy. Howeverm, the cost of a good service was more than I thought. Anyway I am now more than 1800 miles away from my previous location. I have a final IV which a great Rx compant Friday morning, I have a great new (albeit small and unfurnished) apt.. I have aslo started dating a wonderful woman that is unselfish (quite unlike my wife became). Anyway, I am happier than I ever imagined I would be after I left. Before everyone critcizes me, remember I had the guts to do it and it was for everyone's best interests. Follow your dreams.
That took balls man. Good luck. I wish everyday I had the guts to fucking bail.
What about your children?? I might not miss everything else but leaving my children seems to me a cowards way out.

I call total BULL SHIT. The guy can't even compose a sentence---no way he is a college grad and can get a pharma job. "Great" apartment, just small and empty. I can truly understand getting rid of a bad wife, but I have NO sympathy for a person who can abandon their children (UNLESS he was sexually abusing them---this could certainly explain the need for a new identity. How about it OP??? Was this your problem? You can't run fast enoughor far enough to get away from problems like that).

Oh, and you aren't working at ANY pharma or related industry with the background checks that they routinely do now.
Wrong know-it-alls! I know of someone that got 3 driver's licenses in 3 states at the same time to cover up a DUI 6 months earlier. He passed the pharma background check easily. He is now a very succesful specialty RD with a biotech. I also know a guy that got into pharma without a degree although he set it up that he did. It can and is done all the time if you are sharp and resourceful. There are many internet sites that help you with the documents, believe me,

Only death will separate me from my children. Anyone who abandons their offspring is performing a form of genocide. It's inconceivable to me! Although my marriage is strong, we have had times of weakness when we were challenged. IF we had to separate because of a spouse that was as you describe, I would fight tooth and nails to REMOVE my children from that environment. Abandoning them to her was cruel and reprehensible.

The only way this is true if if it was done BEFORE all the DMVs in the US were linked up to see each others systems. They are all linked now and that would NEVER work.
No way on pretty much faking anything in your background check anymore. The internet and computer systems call your ass on every lie, and trust me, we've seen them all. We take seminars on the latest ways you think you can fool us.
