The only reason that Kevan got hired as the VP of Sales at Kala is because Mark and Kevan used to work closely together at AstraZeneca. Kevan had never had the role of VP of Sales at any previous company before Kala and was really unqualified especially in Ophthalmology. Mark sits on the board of several companies and really could care less about the people in all of the organizations he represents. He only cares about the numbers and blames the sales force when they are not meeting aggressive growth expectations. He is barely present to the organization except for investor calls and does nothing to help the sales organization to be successful. But, think about it…why would he care? Even if the company turns out to be an epic failure like Kala he will still get paid millions and get padded with a golden parachute. And then so on and so forth! He will just do it all over again with another promising Biotech.
