College Football: Will the SEC "6 Peat"

ohio footbll is pathetic. take your pick. which is your favorite ohio football moment?

6-7 record this season
0-11 bowl record vs sec
2 a$$ beatings giving up 40pts in head to head national titles games vs sec

sorry butch, the sec 7 peat on the way and big 1o does not have a single team good enough to stop it.

THIS IS AWESOME! Great summary. Of course Butch didn't attend any of these games because he's a bandwagon fan and only comments on ohio when he thinks the team has a chance. We all know ohio never had a chance in any of these games as the SEC eats ohio for breakfast. Thank God for ohio or the SEC would need to look around for another whipping boy.

I love the one line that stands alone and bitch slaps ohio about 2/3 of the way down in the article below.

New playoff format shouldn't hurt SEC
February, 21, 2012

By Chris Low
ESPN Insider Brad Edwards, who's tracked the BCS standings as closely as anybody the past few years, doesn't think the new college football playoff format being discussed will do much to slow down the SEC.

I agree with Edwards and think it's equally comical that SEC commissioner Mike Slive pitched the "plus-one" format a few years ago only to have officials in the Big Ten and Pac-12 look at him as if he were trying to sell them beachfront property in Arkansas.

Well, here we are a few BCS national championships later (all won by SEC schools), and suddenly there's mounting support for a four-team playoff.

Funny how that happens.

As Edwards points out, at least one SEC team would have been included in a four-team playoff in nine of the past 10 seasons, using the BCS standings as the vehicle to seed the top four teams. And in three of the past six seasons, two SEC teams would have been included.

The SEC has 12 top-four finishes in the BCS standings over the past 10 years. The Big 12 is second with nine, followed by the Big Ten and Pac-12 each with seven.

One of the things the Big Ten is supposedly pushing for is playing the two semifinal games at the sites of the two highest-seeded teams. The Big Ten's thinking is that getting an SEC team in a cold-weather environment in January would work to the Big Ten's advantage.

I also like the idea of playing the semifinal games on campus sites, but the Big Ten might want to be careful what it's wishing for. How would Wisconsin have fared at Tiger Stadium last season? How would Michigan have fared at Bryant-Denny Stadium?

For that matter, how has Ohio State fared against any SEC team in any bowl setting?

One caveat that's being discussed that the SEC wouldn't be in favor of is mandating that only conference champions be eligible to participate in the four-team playoff. Take last season, for instance. The top three teams in the BCS standings going into the final week of the regular season were all from the SEC -- 1. LSU, 2. Alabama and 3. Arkansas.

It's pretty obvious that we're finally moving toward a four-team playoff, and it could be in place as early as the 2014 season. The presidents and chancellors will have the final say, and there's still the whole Rose Bowl issue that the Big Ten and Pac-12 have to solve.

However it shakes out, the SEC is still going to be the conference to beat.

And unless there's some stipulation in place about having to win your conference championship to be eligible (which would be bogus), then those of you who moaned and groaned about seeing two SEC teams in the championship game last season might want to get used to it.

6-7=losing season
bandwagon=no comment
6-7 still=losing season

YOUR alma mater the KY wild kitties were worse. 5-7 overall & only 2 conference wins! pathetic. you had a full roster and head coach. we had a young kid "playing coach" as a "temp" and all of our top players were suspended. I WILL be keeping a close eye on your kitties this year and reportiing on the forum. GO KY kitties! 5-7

2 conf wins. wow.

Again, Butch. You are the only one raving about Kentucky and no one seems to care. On the other hand, you seem to care deeply about ohio university (only when they win) and can't seem to keep jawing about nonsense so we are happy to put you in your place.

The only reason you are trying to deflect from the facts by posting about kittens and fake rolexes is because ohio sucks. At least in your last post you admit ohio is just plain bad - and thanks for admitting that they are as bad as Kentucky. That cracked me up! Seems to me this is your subconscious using Kentucky to post what you really think about ohio. We will simply substitute "ohio" for "KY" when you post and will be happy to put you in your place with respect to how the SEC embarrasses ohio over and over and over.

You play a stooge well, Butch. Thanks for giving us such an easy target. I feel bad at times because you are simply too stupid to see that just as ohio is the whipping boy of the SEC, you are the whipping boy of all of the SEC posters on this thread.

7PEAT is coming your way, Butch.

Ohio State's SEC Struggles

Ohio State Just Can't Beat SEC Teams in Bowl Games

By Tim Hyland, About.com Guide
.

Not even the most die-hard Ohio State fan could deny it: The Buckeyes have been simply awful against the SEC.
How awful? This awful: The Buckeyes have never beaten an SEC team in a bowl game. They've had nine chances, too.

The failures have been magnified in the past two seasons, as the Buckeyes have been blown out in back-to-back BCS Championship games -- first by Florida (2007), then by LSU (2008) -- but the truth is, Ohio State's struggles against the SEC date all the way back to 1977, when they were pummeled by Alabama, 35-6, in the Sugar Bowl. What is most remarkable about the SEC's dominance over Ohio State, however, may be the fact that it has continued even during the Jim Tressel era. Tressel has delivered just about everything Ohio State fans could want -- dominance over Michigan, Big Ten titles, a national championship -- but even he can't seem to break the Buckeyes' SEC jinx.

Whoever posted that the Big 10 is better than the SEC nowadays? I am a Big 10 fan, and I would never say something so stupid.
The SEC is by far dominant in college fb.
It appears the OP is simply trying to start friction on the forum.
Things go in cycles. Don't be surprised to see the PAC 10 dominate in years to come. USC will be there, as well as Oregon.
Don't get too "high and mighty" with recent success. Everyone also knows that an OSU coached team by Urban Meyer will compete much more aggressively than Tressel did. That is a fact. I firmly believe OSU will go undefeated this year, with possibly 1 loss at most. The following year don't be surprised to see them in the NC and win it all. At least I am man enough to admit the SEC's recent dominance, but don't think it will last for 10 years. Alabama should win it again this year. It is expected. So what? We still love our Buckeyes and love going to all games. Let it go you weirdo. Urban will bring in more and more speed, and it has already started with only 1 month of him in charge of getting the right players. Speed on the rush ends the SEC has was impossible to OSU in past games. That will change in time. We already signed the top 2 DE's in the nation. We will also get more "athletic" OT's compared to our fat slow blobs who SEC's DE's ran around with ease in the past. They were doughboys. Urban will not have them nor tolerate it. He does not believe an OT needs to weigh 340 with a huge gut. We can have 285 lb OL who are true athletes. He makes them remove their shirts for "progress exams." He personally does it. He said he was very disappointed when he got here and walked thru and saw their bodies. It is all changing. He also doesn't strive for 240 lb backs. Not necessary in his offense.

sorry again about your appl. rejection to osu. don't cry too much. yes, it is still the largest single campus in the country. 60K + students. tons of bars etc., but it all changed when the drinking law went to age 21. the bars changed. now it is "townies" and grad students. the students party in old houses near campus. "block parties." see young fella, went i went there drinking age was 18. the bars now are "upscale" for the most part. no fun in my mind. we drank at roudy cool hole in the walls packed with hotties. drank beer from 3 gallon buckets. kegs n' eggs on mich day. 6 am. brew and eggs at the bar i worked at. peanuts on the floor. i know you didn't get in, but you could still go down and jump in mirror lake the night b4 the mich game with hundreds of coeds. beautiful campus with ivy lined old brick. great frat houses. our sigma chi house ruled.
now, you just keep "rooting" for you the whole conference down south. how does it feel in florida to get into your car 8 months of the year? nice.........i just got back from miami beach but it was only 80 and a nice break. south beach bars were a blast. little pricey. 75.00 cover at the 2 i went to. some unreal booty. why do you think your chris farley les miles wanted to coach so much at mich and they didn't want him? he knows how fun it is. even ann arbor is fun. tradition. my osu degree and masters did wonders for me. how many people do you know who retire at 48? (unless they win the lottery!!!)

sorry you had to miss out and then become soooooo transparent. acting like you root for a whole conference,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,then single out ohio state and call the coach an "elf." uhhhh he started at QB in college for 3 yrs. i believe he is 6'0" tall and saban is 5'8". you would have been smarter to say you went to alabama and love your school. you just made a total fool of yourself. we don't root for "conferences." we root for our school. i hope mich gets killed by alabama. my fave team is whoever is playing against michigan. it is a shame and must be depressing to not have a favorite and an alma mater you are proud of. how can you state on here you went to kent st.? uh.....sad

i had the best time of my life (one of them) at osu and you will never have an experience like it now go deliver another lunch. (never delivered one in my entire life.) i took my customers to restaurants.

u usually post every hour. i got it. you are at one of your famous meetings where you get sore butt and the DM crams your district into a little room with a bowl of mini candy bars in the middle of the table and gives you candy like a baby when you role play if you win. LOL! i know cause i would fly in (1st class) talk to your districts about "pull though" and fly out! the DM's were more jealous than the reps. we flew and flew out in 3 hours.

I love it! We are in your head Butch. You have retired but are here bragging about Timex watches and Benzies on a football thread. Your imaginary lifestyle is all you have because you certainly can't talk about ohio's program in a realistic light.

Things do go in cycles but not everything. ohio is 0-11 in bowl games against the SEC and this just doesn't change. You are a 6-7 team and called Kentucky "pathetic" for winning 2 Conference Games. Guess what, Butch? ohio only won three - as many as the # of OOC games they won (3). That is pathetic, Butch, to use your words.

Glad to be living rent free in your head, Butch.

Dipshit, the SEC has the current #1 teams in Basketball, Football and Baseball. You can try and sidestep this all you want but we are quite proud of our Conference and it's accomplishments. Not the least of which, our 6 National Championships in a Row.

you have a hard time reading huh? that was not my statement. (nor the experts) it is "top to bottom in all sports" ie BEST athetics. that is not just the "major 3" sports. i said ALL sports. fencing, wrestling, diving et. al. try some remedial reading son.

sorry again about your application to osu getting rejected and you time at Kent St. It was a blast in CBus for college. major party scene. sorry about Kent OH for ya. (only reason you could have possibly singled out Tressel in your OP=jealousy and hatred of OSU. sorry again Mr. Kent)

isn't arkansas in the sec? last time i looked they were. at least in January of 2011 they were! LOL!

how transparent to single out OSU in your OP. Must have been right after Sports Illustrated did an entire cover in scarlet & grey stating Ohio State is "THE athletics factory in college"
sorry bout that.

You could have talked about TX & mack brown or USC. noooooooo. THE Ohio State U. Like they say "If they are talking about you, you definitely have their attention." LOL again.

update for the toothless. they will pack the SEC stadiums this fall even @ KY and Ole Miss. reason? free half time dental care.

Dumbass, you are the one who has a hard time reading. The Thread says, "will the SEC "6 Peat" and yet you are highlighting a post about other sports as if you can read. Get over yourself.
