I have a phone interview this week for a "clinical science consultant" position with Boehringer Ingelheim. Does anyone know exactly what this specific position entails? Is this a sales position?? I have a strong nursing background but no sales experience. Anyone have any good tips or advice for my phone interview? This will be my first pharma interview. Help!!!

Thanks a bunch!!!

What state?

This has been asked before but I'll answer again. You will be a primary care sales rep calling on high decile primary care doctors. You have a 15 minute slide deck that talks about disease state that you'll be expected to detail to physicians on all your calls. You will not be selling any drug per se. You'll be telling docs about the difference between COPD and asthma. Most of the offices you are assigned you won't be able to get into since they are no-see.

I'm in Illinois. Seems like ALOT of negative comments on this position. I realize it's a new position. I still don't see how it's really any different than a primary care sales rep?? Any ideas what salary would be for a CSC??

Depends on experience & degree. Salary, plus commision. Did you get called for a phone screening yet?

Pay is good, but you will be a primary care rep and working for the managers who don't know what they are talking about.

RN: 80K-95K/Year, Bonus 29K/year, car & benefit
PharmD to PhD: 90K-110K, all others are same
MD plus additional Degrees like MS or PhD: 110K-120K the most, all others are same

Your associate directors
Amy S: she is not a PhD, nor RN, or NP.. She has MS in some scientific field --> Bi&^CH
Tena W & Susan S: RN but never practiced --> NOT SO SMART
Angelina: ex-Merk exe. no science degree, --> Dumb ASS
John S & Rick: Pharm D. They know stuff.. --> Brains but no balls

Hope this info helped.

Say they do get in to see the doc. What do they do on their second visit?
Pie in the sky management.

PCP here and your information about salary range is accurate but a RN with no sales experience would not make that much. The RN's that are CSC's now all have sales experience we are told. There are lots of RN's and PharmD's with pharma sales exp. Territories are large and most people on their list don't see reps. and CSC's are nothing more than primary care sales reps. so they don't get in either. We were told to work with them last year and used their money for lunches etc. They got all of the credit so our mgrs. told us to let them sink or swim. We are NOT working with them but playing the game for big brother. We are going to get their "tools" too so basically they are out there spinning their wheels and lots quitting. Give it a year and the experiment will be over The big brother team is what the poster said except...Amy S. is a MEAN Barbie that is on her way up. When she is around our mgrs. tell her what she wants. Tena W is pure Kountry and tows the co. line so she is easy for our mgrs. to handle. A. H. is not from BI so no trouble for PCP mgrs. there. Susan is typical CA...tell her anything. Have not heard much about J.S. and the R guy that is a PharmD is all about himself. All mgrs have to do is tell him how great he is. So if you are a out of work RN and want a job for a year to work you ass off with no help from us and a large territory go for it. Good luck.

Whoever you are.......you are so right on!!! We'll also be hiring more AD's for most territories. Move over sweet bi****s!

I also have a phone interview next week for a csc in the southwest. Ph.D. with clinical experience and strong contacts in the area but no sales experience.
They seem to be posting CSC jobs all over the country.
This thread worries me a little.

Anyway.... I was thinking, why would an MD want to do this job??? Did they kill someone? Besides, what do other MD's who are practicing say when you come in with this marketing crap???? I would really like to know... I think being a true sales person in this spot is far more valuable than having your degrees. Go back to what you were trained to do unless you weren't trained????

I heard they know how easy it is to get laid at these training meetings... Half of the docs out there have never had a good lay.... Stethoscopes have a different meaning behind closed doors.....
