Can we retire yet?

not sure how things are going here.....

54 here wife is same age. we have about 3.4 million dollars saved and no kids ( but a couple furry ones). So over it here and I need to get insurance from her if I retire early or she does vice versa. How much does one need to retire? We have a country house and a city house in the NE and still hefty mortgages but a fair amount of equity. And no we are not selling city place until we retire. We will retire in the country. We put away about 60,000 each of us per year in retirement and income accounts.

Retire now. We dont care.

Since you asked, original poster here. Yes we are frugal. Never take sodas or teas when we go out to eat. Always pregame it first at home. One drink out or two tops. We only eat out once a week maybe two on a unique week. We don't EVER do take in!!! We don't shop at fancy malls. We buy only on sale. A splurge is Nordstrom Rack. We also don't buy new cars. We buy 2-3 years old and not gas guzzlers. Time slips by fast and little daily activities help the magical rule of compounding.

The Millionaire Next Door is a wonderful book to teach the attributes on wealth acquisition.

Ummm, the OP is NOT frugal. Frugal does not have 2 hefty mortgages in their 50s. Nope.

I think I'm good. 39 divorced, $3 grand still goes to ex wife. But after splitting 401k, still have about 180,000 there and 160000 in stock market. I figure I'll stop at 50. No kids
