Can I retire yet?

YES and they do nothing--stay at home--eat out at a $8 meal once a week at 4 pm, don't travel and live hand to mouth.

Yes, many do live with little. It doesn't mean it's fun. I've worked hard ALL of my life and saved. I want to do some traveling, go out to eat, go on vacations, etc. That's why I want 4 to 5 million. Got it now!?????????????
Yes, we’ve got it. Your personal need is more than many others. Good for you. Millions will retire quite comfortably on much less. This is a fact. Now get lost $4M boy, you little pr*ck

What’s funny is 4 M boy has nothing close to that saved. Dream on.
As matter of fact, considering less than 3% of U.S. individuals have over a million in net worth I’m guessing not many reading this have or ever will have that saved.

Please return to the home and play checkers and wait for lunch.
We don't care about your fantasies.
Boring old farts

Millions don't retire comfortably on much less. They retire but not in comfort.
You're forgetting you're not qualified to make such a general assessment. You don't have a personal relationship with those who have retired with less. Are you trying to say you know the personal situation of every retiree walking around out there?

Stick a sock in it $4M boy

Now 4M child, who are you to define what is comfortable for others. Maybe you need 4M, which you will never achieve, but others do not. Maybe you do not want to live their lives, I assure you, I do not want your life.
I’ve been to NYC and other expensive high tax states many times, I have zero desire to ever return. I enjoy hunting and fishing in my rural Southern state. My life is great.

3M is needed in the behind the times South. Feels like one has stepped in a time machine there

Well I will say that I’m 56 and retired on half of what you claim necessary. I own 40 acres and A very nice 5000 sq ft home. I take multiple annual vacations, own a new vehicle and enjoy numerous amenities in life. We may be a “step behind” according to you however, I guess you need to define that step behind. I’m. very self sufficient here if necessary and have a very nice life. If you need 4M then good luck but don’t assume everyone else needs the same and do not cast disparaging remarks upon those of us who choose a different lifestyle.

How did you get those 40 acres?

My question to all of you is why would you want to retire? I mean, working for Merck
is an incredibly rewarding experience, and conveying much needed drug information
to clinicians and payors, is a mission unto itself.

Why so anxious to retire everyone? Being a drug rep at Merck is a calling...

Ok now...Be well!

Finally someone who gets it. We are saving patients lives. Sort of second line from being a physician. I never want to retire. When I lay my head upon my pillow at night, I say “job well done, now be well and goodnight”. I also offer up prayers for Kenny and leadership to continue to guide us in such a manner that we can be impactful and save another life tomorrow. I say thank you Merck for this tremendous opportunity to be an asset to humanity—a drug rep for Merck. I’m truly honored to serve mankind in this profession as I strive to save 4 million.

Not sure about that. Financial planner said don't forget to calculate extra money to offset inflation. The price of EVERYTHING will be higher in 10 years, 20 years, 30 years. Also need more cash for healthcare spending because aging people get sick, unlike when you were younger. Unfortunately, 2 million is not that much these days.

Agree. I think 4 to 5 million safe.
