Calls today- restructure

Don't know of a single, solitary, AZ diabetic rep let go anywhere. This was a small blip. If fact, I haven't heard of any AZ reps let go. The Big One is coming though, you can bet on that!

Same. I only know of contract reps. They ended up notifying only 20 for diabetes because others were moved around.
 




Does anyone have any idea of the total number of reps and managers let go in the layoff? I am in Texas and only one person in my District was displaced. A good rep too!
I have friends in TX that are displaced both PC and Diabetes side. 160 total was what I was told. More is coming. A little at a time, won't make any news.
 












DS 4 & Summit had a total of 4 reps gone and 2 mgrs in N. California
This is just the tip of the iceberg. This is a 24 month plan that will eventually reduce the sales force and management by 40% or more if the market changes or performance gets worse.
We all knew this was coming but AZ will be clever and calculated in the implementation.

I've been with two companies that followed a similar pattern right before significant patent expirations, one of which was Lipitor. AZ doesn't have the products to makeup for the lost revenue of Crestor. Pfizer at least had Celebrex & Lyrica to soften the blow and they still had multiple layoffs.

Exactly. This is all planned. If you want to see a replay have a look at GSK, Pfizer etc. when large brands went generic. If you think you are safe because you have a friend high up in HQ or your manager loves you, think again. They have already started eliminating high salaried, tenured people in HQ. Nobody is safe when the big cuts come. It is all about numbers now.
The more money you make, the longer you have been here, the older you are, and if you qualify for a legacy pension, then kiss your ass goodbye very soon because you checked every box in their elimination formula. If you don't believe me, have a look at those they recently forced out in HQ.
 




I agree with you that there will be more cuts. But, I don't agree that they will go after tenured reps unless they are ranked low. Do they really want to pay the severance to reps that have been around 25-30 years? Especially managers who get 3 weeks pay per year? NO..they will wait it out until they retire. That's why there is no raising your hand this time. Unless you are ranked low in your district...you are staying.

You are so wrong on so many counts but the biggest is that they value tenured people and that they want to avoid large severance payouts. They have done the math. If you are over 50 with 20+ years service and even worse qualify for a legacy defined pension, it is much cheaper for them to buy you out of the contract. 15 years at 200K which costs them over $400K in salary and benefits. That is $6 million and they still have to guarantee your defined pension after you retire. Now do you believe they will come after you first?

Only old timers can sell? LMAO! The fact you actually believe you are in sales has me laughing.

CSOs can do what all of you are doing at 1/3 the cost. Don't think AZ doesn't know that.
