BREAKING AZ News-- AZ TO CUT 7300 Jobs...Again

Did anyone see that article in First Word Executive Plus about AZ to cut its global workforce by approx. 7300 positions in an effort to deliver an extra 1.6 billion in cost savings by the end of 2014??
They say its due to fourth quarter profit slipping?? Are you kidding me?? How can you expect a strong fourth quarter or a strong first quarter of 2012 when you do nothing but fuck with us and our jobs??
So does this all mean they are cutting us more again?? Could they even give us a fucking week??

This is insane!! So if you thought you were safe and made the cut, no dice. Just ask for a package now and look for a job. Or look for a job while you get paid to be doing Astra Zeneca work.
How much more can one company continue to screw its people??? Thank you senior leadership. Too bad that don't get rid of all of you.

Wilmington HO: Simply a failure of senior leadership, how much lee time do you need to know the patent cliff was on the horizon a while back and to do something about it, guess what, it's here, and you geniuses failed to lead. Not that surprised, we've known this was coming for a while, and more cuts will come. At HO you get promoted if you have so-called leadership qualities which is all you're assessed on via their STAR selection criteria (situation, task, action, result) whether you have the required skills or not, you just have to show you have leadership qualities as they see them, and this culture is what has bought us to where we are today. There is way too much climbing over each other via continual deployments into other teams to gain experience, pad your resume, yet they don't have the skills to effectively function in their deployed positions. MedImmune was an example of the AZ style of leadership.

Apparently, those of us that were just let go, either in HQ or the field were ALREADY included in these numbers. Supposedly, there are no more US cuts to come from this announcement.... I'll believe it when I see it.

GREAT POST!

I believe those that were retained during this round have just bought themselves another year, give or take. After that, AZ will primarily use a contract sales force. Think about where these products are going to be in their patent life... Not to mention, the effects of Lipitor will really start to be felt around June. AZ kept as many Crestor reps as they could because it's really their only "growth product" and they need to get as much from it as they can. But invevitably, it WILL take a hit and so will the sales force. Do what you can with it, but I would constantly be thinking about and working towards your Plan B.
