Being forced to room with someone at meetings is so degrading and dehumanizing

I'm not in sales but honestly this is simply wrong to do to people.....even sales people! Of course, it would be alright to do to lawyers but they will never be forced to do something so demeaning because they would sue.

On a lighter note: This thread is hilarious!

Just because you won't doesn't mean others can't. Do you really believe Pharmaceuticals is the only industry in this country to make a living?? Most people who are young and leave this industry do as well if not better. Older reps have some difficulty. They key is to get the hell out and do something else. It takes some gonads to leave a cushy job, but in the end you will be happier. Good luck my friend!

Most people who leave do BETTER? Maybe if you were 30 when you left, and were making no more than 85K. But
The people that I can think of that were cut during our last downsizing have all taken a major cut in pay. The only people I know that are doing better won 2 or 3 CoE as managers or reps here and are now working at Amgen or Novartis.
Everyone else either "went contract", or got outside of the industry and made a lot less. If you don't believe me, call a recruiter. If CP is to be any marker, I have friends at other pharma companies, and they told me that on their CP sites, you can read the same thing. No one wants to pay six figures to someone that spent many years following a closely scripted "presentation".

That's because this is no longer a sales job. It is merely a regurgitation of marketing materials IF you can see the docs. Otherwise, you're merely catering.

Also depends on where you live. In major metropolitan areas there are more opportunities to get out (or in some cases stay in healthcare). If you live in rural areas you will definitely be limited.

The problem is not roommates... The problem is the stupid frickin meetings. We are spending millions on meetings to justify layers of management and their existence. Just take the money we spend on meetings and add it to the bonus pool.

Pfizer bonuses suck....no doubt about that. Except if you are ELT, Ian and Frank make a nice bonus.

Thanks to our many violations in the past, it hasn't been a sales job in over a decade. Medical Legal teams review marketing messages and materials, and we can't swerve to the left or to the right of what is the sanctioned approved detail.

That aint selling, my friend. That's 1:1 marketing. The fact that it happens in sample closets or in hallways and last about 45 seconds further distances what we do from what true salespeople do.

I just need to hang on another 8 years, then I'm set for life.

I had a roomate who would not lift up the toilet seat to piss. Sprayed all over it. I said "can you lift the seat?. No it's dirty he said. I said Use a piece of toilet paper to lift it up. Oh that's a good idea."

Idiot, idiot asshole shitheads.

Suggest you bring Lysol to the next meeting for both the toilet and your mouth!!

My favorite roommate- the old guy who for some reason isn't a Masters rep.

Goes to bed at 9, snores, gets up at 5, takes 45 minute shits and cant piss without spraying the whole bathroom and dribbling all over due to their achy Prostate.

I now right away when I come in the room and see a Procardia XL golf shirt hanging in the closet or a Zoloft sweater vest on the chair by the desk that its gonna be a loooong meeting

And adults should have real jobs- get my drift?

Complainers on this thread still haven't gotten that fact. They obsess on the two meetings a year rather than revel in the 98% of the time they get paid for what is essentially a UPS/catering job that is done in four/five hours a day (less than 5 days a week by many) for a damn good salary and benefits!! Most people in this country would give their right arm for this gig yet it is so under appreciated for what it is. Granted-not a lifetime career anymore, but a damn good gig while it lasts. And if you're a female (married with children) can you possibly get a better job than this????? Think about it.
