Don't clap.
Don't cheer.
Just be as quiet as possible.
That should send the right message to management.

Are you sick of field ride logs? Don't clap. Don't cheer.
Are you sick of esignatures, call numbers and all the micro management bs? Don't clap. Don't cheer.

Send a message to upper management. Completely silent general sessions should make the point!

We need a show of solidarity. Can we all wear RED shirts on day 1 to:

Dual meaning:

1. Supporting Takeda's Company Color - Solidarity that Takeda can turn it around.
2. Rep message of RED to stop the lack of transparency (dishonest about layoff plans and company future), leadership (needs major changes), and accountability (none taken by leadership - please resign).

Will never happen. DM's won't want their bosses seeing them not giving Doug or Robin a standing ovation. Reps will give into the peer pressure, essentially put on by the RSD's.

Quiet or standing O they must know this. We don't believe anything they say anymore. The quotes from previous meetings meant to motivate and instill confidence never happened-in fact they would be laughable-but people lost jobs due to their leadership. So it is incredibly serious.

Only actions count from now on-all the words from the podium will be.....empty. Remember that when teleprompter rolls and you are looking out into the crowd.

The NSM....what a joke. How can anyone cheer after what this company has put its sales force these past couple of years. I will be in my room, enjoy the lies for those who attend general session.

I wish I had the balls I had just seven years ago and I would sit on my hands in Vegas! The last two years have made me feel more and more dependent and weak...I was saved again and yet feel so impotent. I know I will get on my feet and smile and nod to those that have cut off my balls

YOU PUSSY! I too was spared again this layoff, but like most of us I know that the really big cut will be coming in 6 months. They wanted to keep enough of us to continue to instill fear in us so that we will work 9 hour days to detail all we can on the products before actos goes generic. Even if alo gets approved, there will still be cuts much more massive than last week.

I will not cheer or clap. My silence will speak volumes. I want them to know they can not continue to treat me like a little child and tell me to do high volume calls and hit metrics that make no sense. Treat me like and adult and a sales professional. Tell me the number you want me to hit and let me get it from the doctors in the fashion I choose. TRUST me. My God, you pay me enough.

Therefore, I will not clap or cheer at the meeting. I will be courteous and engaged, but I will let my silence in general sessions speak for me.

Last time I convinced myself that there was a metrics that saved me. Now I know how random it really is. I agree with last poster that while I will be respectful I will not smile and nod!!!

Just an FYI, none of you have the balls not to clap - you will follow like the sheep you have been trained to be. I don't blame you, just stop talking so much BS when you know you won't follow through

#10 is right no matter what we say we will follow it is what we are trained to do. Like most I will be looking for new opportunity but for now we will all smile and wave.

I agree with 11, it is what it is. As angry as we are, nothing will change because we will never have the nerve to all wear red or not clap or ditch the last night party - and it's a shame

Poster #5 got it right. It doesn't matter if we clap, the people on stage will try and say all the right things all the right ways-but inside they will know they might as well be speaking to an empty room-because nobody will believe a single fake teleprompted scripted word.

I was one of the "not retained". It is certainly a kick in the gut. Hard to feel so easily disposable. I was with Tap/Takeda for fiveteen years and made alot of friends. I suggest you all play the game for the short term, not fun but necessary. I would be surprised if the ship can be righted, so use your time wisely. Lower your exposure on expenses as quickly as possible, it will make any decision down the road (in your control or not) much easier.

Don't attend any of the general sessions. If your manager says anything just tell him/her you were there but you could not find them. What if any valuable information do you expect them to share form the stage anyway? Did they change the color of the boxing gloves on the Dex slides?

Upper management at these companies never ceases to amaze me. I work at another company - we just went through this shit 3 years ago. Are they really having a meeting at Vegas with Maroon 5? Unbelievable the arrogance of the dirtbags in charge. At least my company toned down the meetings. We've had local meetings with terrible food in Dallas. I wouldn't clap at anything and I would not go to the concert. Let whoever the band is play to an empty room. I can't believe they are spending at least $3/4 million on a meeting after laying off people.... disgusting.

Anyhow, good luck to anyone laid off and look outside pharma. Everyone I know who tried to stay in pharma after a layoff is unemployed up to a year.

Dead on comment! I was part of the last layoff. Take any "reasonable" offer, as you can still look for a position somewhere else. Companies will not state publicly that they will not hire someone who is unemployed but the practice exists-Big Time!

I have to say for the record. I never realized how good I had it in the industry. The money, time off, car, corporate incentives, free meals and job flexibility. It is a good gig when it is going right.
