Next week Tuesday and Wednesday Sr VP of Ops is going to WF,writing is on the wall.
Production will go to Eastern Europe, they have massive
amounts of Capacity, no laws, no one questions the authority and yes the labor
is extremely cheap.

Valeant have empty plants already available ready to receive any type of products.

Don't be naive, the IDA in Ireland created generic manufacturing plants, ready to accept any form of manufacturing. These places are built in Poland, just waiting for a tenant.

The only real question here is the payback time for Valeant. How many years after a closure of operations in Ireland before the cost of shut down is repaid ? That's what determines the decision.
 






You shmuck, this is not about gloating, it is mere fact. Valeant has been an extremely successful company by manufacturing product in Eastern Europe. They do not care if it is Pharma or device. They will move everything to Polish sites between now and 2015. Remember what MP said when he acquired BL, we are buying the brand and history. No one cares where the product is made especially not the customer. Plus most of the products are outsourced. You need to really study MPs comments and understand that Valeant cares about making money and in locations where there are little to no regulations such as Eastern Europe, Mexico and Brazil. That is why they screwed their acquisitions in US and have nothing in Western Europe. They will move manufacturing to East Europe. You should invest time in looking for your future.
 






You should invest time in ensuring your union secures a good pay-off brothers and sisters, because all gloating aside, the fabled announcement will be made in the near future and there is not one decently paying job out there despite the propaganda.

Good news for WF plant, 9 temporary machine operators that were let go last month have been told they are back in employment with B&L in January after the Xmas holidays....

Good start to a new year for those guys & gals....
 












Time to get in touch with the union reps and HR department. Current redundancy terms and conditions are only confirmed to be in place until December 31st. Just ask them if they will be the same next year when the next wave hits, don't accept "we don't know", if they don't know they have a responsibility to find out. This applies to all of you, even the ones with the cushy numbers upstairs. Time to get together brothers and sisters, your years of service will be worth a lot less than they are now.

you really have a smell of HR about you, or you could be just ordinary thick
 






The hr rep that has ranted and raved in previous replies is part of the group that consistently deny any knowledge of a change to redundancy terms and conditions. They are either lying or being lied to, Valeant want to return to statutory only, why not ?
I hope that what they want and what they get are 2 different things. It would be nice to think that HR in Waterford will try to work on behalf of the workers and not just blindly implement Valeant diktats.
 






OK Waterford, senior managers retiring / being made redundant, previous SLT roles being replaced by cheaper non SLT versions, and oh yeah, why not create a new SLT role just to rub it in to the people that were made redundant pre Christmas. That should bring the morale to an all time high, way to go
