The reality is that 1 out of 3 of you won't have a job, and if you're a speciality rep, look to your partner, the younger, cheaper one because they now have your job. The reality is that RSDs and ASDs jobs will be slashed by half. The reality is the kids they hired last year will take your job because they're cheaper and more ambitious. The reality is over eight weeks ago there were discussions of layoffs and cuts. And the reality is that the hammer came down and you need to find other work. Welcome to the real world where over 2 million Americans went through their unemployment benefits because even though several thousands of them were degree-holders, they still couldn't find a high paying job to support their families. The reality is that we are in a recession, still, and that guess what? You are a victim of it. The reality is that while you've been catering fancy $500 lunches and selling drugs that cost upwards of $200 a month, others are figuring out where they're getting their dinner from tonight because there's nothing in the cupboards at home. While you were busy figuring out whether you were going to go on that fancy all-expenses-paid COE trip, others were moving their belongings into their parents' home because their medical costs and job loss cost them their house. While you were wasting $75 a night at an unnecessary BEM on dinner, that $75 could've kept the lights on at your neighbors who are scraping by on one income. The reality is that pharmaceutical sales isn't in fact sales, it's getting in a car every day, checking samples in a closet and making an attempt to talk with someone who will give you the time of the day. The reality is you're no more welcome than a stray dog anymore. The reality is that this is a post-9/11 world we live in where we've felt the worst economic effects since the Depression and the reality you've been living in for the last 10 years is in fact, not a reality at all.

Does anyone know when the choices of fleet cars will be changed ? They suck right now. My mean DSM won't tell me.

I don't understand how 24% equates to 1 in 3 people - surely that's more like 1 in 4.

Your post is a prime example of why we need to dump you old fatrs. Old math, 1 in 4 was ~24%. Modern day math, 1 in 3 IS 24%.

Go clean your false teeth old fart and look for a rocking chair on sale.

The 24% is the stated minimum number that is broadcast. When all is said and done (self-identifier's, collapsed territories, etc) the actual total number targeted to be 10% greater...therefore 34-35%...1 in 3. Some regions and therapeutic areas will take bigger hits than others. Recall in 2009 the primary care sales forces: RPT was eliminated and MCL Regions Boston, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis and Seatle were impacted at a much higher rate than the original average impact % that was stated.

Other Pharma Co rep here - Oh yes, you can bet your sweet ASS it will be more than 25%!!! - they always announce a smaller number to the press - and it comes equiped with the word "projected" or "targeted". Corporations are expert at lying/spinning/positioning, that's what they do best.

Look for at least 35% overall. Our company did the same thing 18 months ago and never announced the exact number post hence. To this day it's very obvious they intentionally avoid talking about how many reps we have company wide, where before the talk was always "strength in numbers" and the power of a large sales force.

lets face the facts, AZ is moving people out and writing it off.... they appreciate your service but really don't give a fuck once you are gone

next time all you kool aid drinkin punks want to defend "oh they would never lay off" you should be more the wise.... its amazing that so many people didnt see it coming

the industry is over thanks to the healthcare reform.... just like when Hillary did this in the 90's and the industry tanked, so too is it happening again... 1 more year to go and that shit's coming to the country and then the final chapter of reps will be written

i'd bet money that in time generic companies will begin marketing their products and probably need people. the unfortunate thing is that they won't pay "brand name" salaries and likely tell you it's a take it or leave it job. With 20 million people out of work, you can bet it will be taken.

Welcome to the new world.... its going to suck bigtime for many many many years

The industry continues to collapse, look for another industry or try to go into business for yourself. Presently, CEOs and CFOs are only cutting head count to reduce costs, wait until they actually figure out they only need one rep per major market to hit the top 10-20% of docs, then the real cuts will begin.

Whichever company CEO has the balls to make that move will be heralded as a visionary in 5 years. Ask yourself, if they eliminated 75% of the reps and kept enough to hit the top prescribers, would Rx volume drop by more than the costs saved (pay, car, benefits, etc)?

Don't think so.

Forget the top 20%; how about one PSS per territory calling on anyone that will actually see you to make a sales presentation? Hell, you could have 4 PSSs cover an entire metro area and they still would run out of things to do. Wait until the figure that one out.

If Tilton or one of his toadies would get out and work in the field once in a while they might come to this conclusion too. All they would need to do is spend one week with the same PSS to see that they have at most 3.5 days of work per month and the rest is all just stalling and jacking off.

Stupid post and you have sullied and tarnished a great movie. How many times can you say "reality is". Reality is that your post was fucking lame

You talking about reality? Hmm? Y'all experts? Y'all know about Reality? I'd like to hear about it, potheads. Are you smoking this s#*t so's to escape from reality? Me, I don't need this s#*t. I am reality.

Does anyone know when the choices of fleet cars will be changed ? They suck right now. My mean DSM won't tell me.

After all of that you can only care about what car AZ will provide. Your territory docs will not have the patients who can afford brand name drugs to help you keep your job.

You should be focused on buying your own car so you do not have to spend your whole lay off package on a vehicle.

Who cares what kind of car they provide. Even though you pay to use the Fleert car it is not yours. That is right.....check your pay stub. You rent that car and when they can you they take it.
