I think I am going to be sick - How many VP of Sales have there been (3)

How many reps have they burned through? Too many to count

Does anyone in management have start up experience?

Why are management $$ so high? The protected few reward themselves north of $300k

How long has this been on the market?

What happened to the Stryker deal?

More debt every year, More $$ for management every year

Reps are lower than bathroom attendants at this company.

This about sums it up. Dysfunction, ignorance, mismanagement and out of whack egos as their foundation. That and the lack of leadership skills and respect for sales reps ties the whole package together nicely.

Wow...I felt bad about not taking the interview but after reading this I'm thrilled I didn't waste my time. If you listen to the recruiter, this is the best job anyone could ever want. Maybe if you're trying to get into med sales, but not if you are already making any kind of money.

Waste of time for someone trying to break in or, fresh out of college - NO
Waste of time for a good rep with 3+ - YEP
If the recruiter is or, associated with, CS out of NY, will they exaggerate and make up @&^% - YEP
If you are making north of 100k will you be disappointed financially - Absolutely YEP

AxoGen has good technology in their human graft. However, they are a one trick pony. Almost impossible to make money selling such a unique item to such a small audience for those rare cases. Maybe worth a look when they have more products in their bag.

100% accurate on all points. A tremendous amount of work for no return. CS is just plain full of sh**.

Do not work for this company! Corporate Officers have no idea about the actual/realistic number of nerve repairs that take place. They underestimate the number of direct suture repairs and therefore create unrealistic quotas. They hire VP's of Sales from large companies who have no idea how a smaller, niche, biologic product should be sold. Rep turnover is high because you cannot achieve your quota and they are cutting territories in half by adding sub-reps. The real unfortunate thing is that the product is actually quite awesome and is superior to other nerve repair alternatives although it is much more expensive. That obstacle can be overcome rather easily. The OR procedures are interesting and you can create good relationships with the surgeons. But let me repeat myself-you cannot trust the leaders who run this company.

I did and I can tell you you are most correct. While the lack of trust was a huge part of the problem with AxoGen it went much deeper. It was also the incompetencey and lack of character with management and at VP levels, it was the lack of a decent compensation plan ( only a few territories were making money and they were the typical big city areas), it was the absurd unrealistic goals set forth, and most important, there was a lack of respect for reps. In turn, reps never trusted or respected managers or VPs. Cool product with the allograft but, an extremely dysfunctional environment. Not a good place to work and explains the high turnover.

Anybody currently or have worked for this company? Thoughts or opinions on QOL?

Execs of the company care about one thing and one thing only- themselves. They are overpaid tools. Managers of the company care about two things - keeping Shawn off their backs and kissing as much of his ass as possible. The reps are lied too, disrespected, underpaid and bent over on a daily basis. Glad I left this dump as the ship is sinking.

why is combined executive compensation in excess of $1 million?

What does John Engles do?

Do they really do that good of a job guiding the company?

How big is the nerve repair market between 3-5cm?

Who would buy this company?

why is combined executive compensation in excess of $1 million?
* Why is one guy, a sales VP, getting half of that 1M? Why are the reps paid like janitors.

What does John Engles do?
* Great guy. Great question.

Do they really do that good of a job guiding the company?
*They collect paychecks. There was never leadership or direction. The execs have no idea about the business and are playing as they go along.

How big is the nerve repair market between 3-5cm?

Who would buy this company?
*Better question - Why would anyone want to work for that company? There was so much BS and empty promises being dished out by those at that top it was sickening.

How many careers have they ruined?

There are no careers at that company. Only temp jobs. Look at the turnover. No profit turned in 8 yrs, WTH. The sh@@ company will be toast within 2. You can only BS investors, Wallstreet and screw reps for so long. Total mismanagement, lack of leadership and a solid business plan.

Nothing like selling a product with zero prospective human data. Nice guys.
Retrospective non random That's crap in this day and age

Good clinical data costs $$. With the top layer of no talent hacks ( like SM, JS and ED) sucking all of the life out if the company in the way of salaries, there is no way AxoGen can ever be legit. All of their data is old tired BS but, it's all they can afford.

How many of the original sales reps are still there? Rick Montgomery and Monica Tarver still on board?
Stryker deal right around the corner?

RM, yes. MT, no. Most all of the reps, less a few, are newbies. Huge turnover.
I'm sure a bigger company would like to have the nerve graft product but, that would be it. Not likely though sense that route failed once already. Without more products and a better business strategy that company is going to find itself on the ocean floor.

What does RM do there?

Whoever he is I doubt he will be doing it for long. Word is they are in financial trouble once again. Good friend said they are having their mid-year meeting at an airport hotel in Detroit. Lots of folks bailing in recent months with more on the way. Good product - bad company.

Does the churn and burn of sales reps have anything to do with those stock options going to "senior management" every time a sales rep is "replaced"?

Do you receive the PIP documents along with your offer - saves time this way?

Just Askin!
