Avoid this company

Company filled with people who think they are better than they are (especially in US) due to the success of Ecu. They believe it was they who drove the company to success with their mantra of push people until they break (I have seen several colleagues be pushed to the brink and end up on Px drugs thanks to management's behaviour) because they all wanted to be seen as uber-macho male types. It’s a sad reflection of their lack of talent that this was allowed to continue due to the ever increasing stock price.
Many of the old guard had never worked in big pharma or biotech before or even outside of the US….(DH never worked outside US for any length of time – do u want that in a CEO who’s meant to be leading a major global biotech???)
The more amgen people they bring in the better (DM, CT); these guys are actually smart by comparison and will hopefully blow some of the senior deadwood out the alxn window and bring some maturity to the company.
Overall, company faces a big uphill battle now as govts. will start to push back on high prices. Alxn is pursuing opportunities only for drugs that a) have an unmet need, b) are life threatening diseases and c) high priced. A & b are commendable, c is not workable as a strategy in the long run. Govts. are figuring prices are not sustainable and when your whole portfolio is based on high priced drugs you will be in trouble as you have no balance. Go work there at your peril, there are many better companies to seek opportunities in and if you are a high flyer you should not be looking at Alexion; Amgen, Celgene, Shire etc. should be your targets.

Here comes ALN-CC5...!!!!

Beginning of the end for ALXN. Better start LinkingIn with recruiters, stat! The glory days are ovahhhhh! And just wait until our competitor starts reporting our unorthodoxed interactions with labs. Could get ugly.

Well, I put my money into a biotech that went from $1.45 to $2.30.

So... maybe you?

Bwahahaaaaa!

ALXN is toast. Competitor on the horizon. And Canada still wants its refund! Make sure you don't have any aHUS stops. ;)

Translation: " yes, I made a stupid comment and now I look like an idiot based on my previous comment. I will try and save face by making up a story about another stock purchase so that I don't look as bad and also throw out a few more stupid doom and gloom comments as well".

From the article you linked:
"
Also on the call, Alexion CFO Vikas Sinha sees...EPS of 90-95 cents, well below analysts' $1.13.
"

Ouch for Q3 and downward adjustments. Analysts also called out the repeat launch failures. Not only for Strensiq but alluding to failures in transplant and STEC.

I really hope you don't work for our company because if we have idiots like you around here, then maybe we have some rough times in the future.

First of all, moron, you made the post about missing the earnings in Q2, when if fact, earnings exceeded targets. Secondly, if you read just before with the comments made by Vikas, the adjusted earning estimates are made because of the Synageva acquisition. Did you take time to read the following:

"The company also adjusted its guidance on expenses to reflect the acquisition of Synageva BioPharma, which closed June 22."

Guess what happens when you buy a company..........you have charges related to the acquisition and integration. Have you ever followed other acquisitions??? It is a very common thing.

Try READING next time, idiot.

I applied to several jobs with Alexion on line. One through a recruiter for a contract position. Every week it was an excuse, so and so out of the office, will check back Monday, etc etc.......went on for two months. Finally the recruiter just told me to move on and forget about them, that she couldn't get an answer. I never even got an acknowledgement for my app, and I have years of experience in pharmaceutical. Their loss.

I also had an interview there went to the interview waited a week and half E-mailed the hiring manager and he said he didn't work there anymore and to contact the hiring manager and there he is on linked in promoting a job for Alexion that was back in the beginning of July still no response. Like you said there loss.

Not much of a loss when you have someone not smart enough to know the difference between "there" an "their".
