Attune Tibia issue

All Fake. Revised another PERSONA today and no one is taking pictures and running down the hall suggesting/hoping for a recall. Aseptic loosening is the #1 reason for revison In knee replacement at 3 yrs. read the literature

2 more CLEAN Attunes pulled at Mayo Clinic. we don't care what Depuy thinks anymore. You dipshits have 3 strikes in a row against you. The more you talk the dumber you look. Nobody's baseplates except for the Attune come out looking like Pam was sprayed on them. Shiny fucking clean.

Is there any reason why Personas or Triathlons or Legends would get reported on MAUDE less than Attunes if they all loosen the same?

Is there any reason why Attunes are reported as "loss of or failure to bond" so often and other systems aren't?

I guess we're going to find out the hard way again just like with ASR and Pinnacle. Those who don't learn from history are condemned to repeat it.

Too bad you can’t post pics on Cafepharma....Our team has amassed quite a photo collection of perfectly clean tibias on the back table with a pristine cement mantle the shape of the implant.

This is exactly why registry data is relevant today more than ever. We can all likely post pics of implants/X-rays that failed. I've started taking pics of every revision knee for the past year. Out of 35-40 full revisions there were only two tibias that didn't came out clean. The irony here is one of the tibias covered with cement was an Attune, the other was a Nexgen for those that care. Seriously, have we really been reduced to showing docs pictures on our phones of failed implants to sell?

And for those people saying registry data isn't important or that it's BS - what does that say about the companies with higher revision rates at 3 years vs Attune? This is unbiased information from a country where nothing is excluded. Over 330,000 Attunes implanted in the US at this point, do the math if you want using the MAUDE database and tell me what the percentage is. Double or triple the number to account for the patients that go somewhere else. At AAHKS where you'd think these discussions would be taking place the posters and talks were focused more on trunion issues and cup loosening. Any Attune posters? What about all the negative papers people have been promising?

How do you explain the clean tibias from surgeons who have been doing this for 30 years? Same cement. Same technique. Only common denominator is the attune. And they say they've never seen this before. How do you explain this???!!!!!!

So if we revise a triathlon and it comes out clean, does that mean that we should recall triathlon? The surgeon who originally put it in has been doing it for 20+ years, etc, etc. what if a paper was published showing tibias coming out clean when using HV cement? Should we recall the cement?

Wow that's a lot of question marks and exclamation points!!!!

Could be explained by a lot of factors. With the insert matching the femur on a fixed bearing it's a much higher conformity ratio. The Sigma MBT tibia that the attune was based on was never difficult to revise. The dwell point of he femur in the tibia in the lateral plane is slightly more anterior. Perhaps our patient population has changed in 30 years. Probably a combination of a lot of different variables.

Look, I'd love nothing more than to never revise an Attune but with the number implanted at this point that's just not feasible. All I'm saying is this 'problem' is being blown way out of proportion. If DePuy had delivered the revision platform on time and as promised we'd likely never have had these discussions. As much as well all point to the revision studies stating that patients tend to do better when both components are revised none of this applies when it's a younger patient that's yours. It's more personal and I get that most guys still want to do as little as possible on a revision.

And to counterpoint the question above - How do you explain the areas that have done thousands of Attunes and haven't had any issues? Again, probably why registry data (that accounts for all locals Andy factors) is relevant information.

Southwest Missouri isn’t reporting their failures either. The Maude data isn’t accurate. Intra Op failures, early revisions are not that common but when they happen they’re not being reported!

It's a $1,000 fine to me if I either don't report something's to DePuy or somehow forget (I never have). As such we report absolutely everything. If there's territories out there flat out not reporting something then that's on them. But I can tell you everything is scrutinized within DePuy regarding revisions and with newer computer tracking systems I'm not sure how it's possible try and quietly slip something by. Unless you believe in this grand conspiracy theory. If you have evidence that someone isn't reporting something then just turn them in. Plenty of anonymous hotlines for that.

As for the MAUDE numbers - take whatever is listed and triple it if you want. It's still a fraction of a percent. I can tell you that our local experience of about 2,000 Attunes over the last few years seems to be in line with the Australian data. I've talked with other DePuy reps all over the country and everyone's local experience appears to be the same.

Did you drink the ASR and Pinnicle koolaid also? Or is this your first time getting burned?

How could you know this? Just because the rep doesn't fill out the form in front of you doesn't mean it's not being done. I don't ever see the stryker reps filling out reports but I don't assume it's not being done.
