Amylin Contract to End!!

Synergy rep here as well. We did not get any instructions about setting up any BMS passwords. Agreed, there has been absolutely no communication to the salesforce from inVentiv. Unfortunately, at this point we are all at the mercy of BMS. Until they announce the realignments (probably not until March 1st), there is nothing we can do except sit back and wait. BMS is going to wait until the last possible minute to announce the realignments so that everyone remains focused. Such BS and we all know it!!

Everyone knows this contract is going to terminate on March 31st. Legacy will be going to BMS computer training the week of March 18th (Location TBD). We have a territory vacancy in our district and it is not being filled. it is one of the top performing territories in our district. So, writing is on the wall.

Good luck everyone. After spending the last 10 years in pharma and not knowing when the next layoff might happen, it is time for me to explore what else life has to offer me. This will be a blessing!!

Sorry- You are not allowed to leave Pharma!! You will be tortured until you die.

I do not agree with that BMS rep. Our manager is having all of her reps update their resumes and send it to her for critique. On field visits in February, we will be conducting mock interviews so we can practice for our next job.

Contract will terminate on March 31st. Good Luck!!!

That is great and I don't want to call bullshit, but I have to. That is not to say that what your manager is doing is not awesome, important and necessary, BUT there is not an inVentiv manager who knows definitively anything (unless they are married to a BMS exec that is part of the integration.) Seriously, the contract managers are just as exposed as us. They would not trust anyone with REAL information, and that real information may not even be finalized yet. Seriously guys, in all likelihood our managers will find out the day before we are all notified. There will not be a month or two that they know something that we don't.

I agree with you 100%. Nobody knows anything yet and it is all speculation and rumors at this point. However, the upper management at BMS has heard that the biggest problem/complaint right now in the field is that everyone (BMS/AZ/Legacy/Synergy) is stepping on each other's toes. Too many reps selling the same products to the same doctors. It is just not working, thus the upcoming realignments on April 1st.

Unfortunately, it make the most business sense to terminate the contract. BMS won't need us. We were fortunate to last this long after the sale of Amylin was completed in August. Legacy will be fully integrated into BMS once they complete their computer training next month. Once the realignments and territories are announced, presumably March 1st, if there remains territory vacancies then the Synergy reps can post and interview for those positions during the month of March before the NSM in Nashville.

I am sure by this point, BMS has the new realignments but will not announce anything for another month so everyone stays "focused".

So you start your post by agreeing that all of this is speculation and then you go on to speculate.

The truth generally lies somewhere in between the extremes of possibilities. There have been times when I've expected the axe to fall and it did not, and other times when layoffs or other bad news hit with complete surprise.

In the meantime, I try to remain positive and to do my job.

The unfortunate part is that the design of this contract never allowed Synergy to prove that they were really a needed sales force. From the beginning we had too much overlap with Legacy. Legacy should have been given a defined target list completely separate from ours, that way every rep would have had ownership and accountability for their own business. The situation we are in now with 4 reps calling on doctors would have been nonexistent and maybe a continued partnership would have been more likely.
Poor planning on behalf of the Amylin and Ventiv management has resulted in a tremendous waste of resources.

Whine whine whine...you missed the point of the contract. No one promised you a permanent job. You didn't need an exclusive list of docs to call on. Your CONTRACT was to fill in the gaps and do it well until the contract ended. The contract is almost over, and now you must go.

This is amazing to read. I've been with CSO since the days of Daniel Snyder and his Snyder Communications ie. pre inVentiv and it's always the same. Client merges, gets acquired or acquires another company and rumors and speculation starts about the contract. Will it be extended, when will it end, do the managers know, will they roll us over, will we be placed on another project/contract?

Has anyone learned besides me that once you sign on your days are numbered? The project/contract is just a piece of paper no matter how long it says it is. There is and never was any guarantee you'll have another job, or you'll be rolled over no matter what the trainers may have said or hinted at. That if and when your project/contract ends, you will get what you thought would be your last bonus/incentive. That there is zero severance except for any unused "accrued" vacation time. That you will find your recruiter is not going to of much help to you.

You take this job because it is a job and it pays the rent not because its' an exciting career. The day you start is the day you start looking for something better, more secure and hopefully rewarding and enjoyable.

I am a synergy rep and I have never been so disrespected in my career then here at inventiv. Tom Williams is a numbers person NOT a leader. When there are questions on the table Tom runs and hides. Have not heard a wink form him this year until he posted a bunch of crappy contract jobs (that we can't post for, yet). Man up Tom tell everyone this crap storm is ending.

What about 1st quart comp plan?
What about having a job past April?
What about just showing other respect, like you demand?

Someone should have the balls to call this guy out to those above him!!! This is mis management. There is no place in business for disrespect. It does not matter if you are contract or direct. Get together as a group and do something about it.

Contract, Begins. Ends. That's all you need to know.. rollover, placed on new business, extension? these topics come up on day 2 of every contract. The only straight answer they can give is "Maybe"... Maybe doesn't pay my bills.

What's the consensus after receiving the latest email from BMS? Are we done March 31st? Icing on the cake is when in the email it said Legacy Only for the managers meeting April 1-3.

Good Luck.

From all the emails from BMS and from (I stay on top of it ) Tom the contract will end and if there are open territories in your area after they chop everything up you maybe save. If you are cut you can apply for another shitty contract with Tom. I don't know what will happen to managers.

If I were you, I would make a full court press to find a new gig, even if your rolled over you will have to deal with big pharma and the micro managers.
