Great post and totally accurate!Don't pay the crook. Uncertainty isn't cause for severance. Not liking the acquiring company isn't cause for severance. Imagine telling BMS legal those reasons. They will laugh at you.
Save the lawyer for arguing whether your role meaningfully changed. Even then they have little incentive to pay you out. You'll either quit because you're genuinely aggrieved or run out of money for litigation before they do.
