Wait a minute....I thought they said we are "right-sized". Oh wait, that was yesterday. Decisions are being made with the forethought of a 12 year old with ADD playing space invaders. Great Leadership!! So what is the plan for next week oh great strategic planners??
 












Help me understand: IF there is something big happening at end of November, why are they cutting certain PC territories that are "overburdened" with reps in OCTOBER? Why would they cut once, and then cut again in a few weeks? Does not make sense. Maybe the big November surprise is a different sales group? Do tell.
 




Why does it have to make sense? Expansions are done in waves, downsizing is too. Wouldn't want to overburden HR. Merck has slowly come to realize that you just don't need all these salespeople for these marginal products that just aren't growing. You are just a marble on a big roulette wheel.

If they lay everyone off at once - then they have to do the WARN period because of the amount of headcount reduction. If they do it in small waves, they can avoid that. The HR message those of us in affected territories got made it sound like there is more to come.

Take it from me - a very large segment of Merck will be gone by years end - Oct - Nov - begins the process. I am in UG and have access to downsizing plans - get out looking for part time work NOW

Nothing will happen this Oct/Nov. or next for that matter...Merck will never undertake the downsizing they need, because this would involve lots of managers being inconvenienced, and they protect their own at Merck like no other...

The Schering Plough Merger was a total disaster for Merck, as they took on thousands of extra employees they did not need, and got rid of very little duplication.

Merck always finds a way to screw up, while maintaining corporate welfare for its executives and managers...Whether you call that corruption or business as usual in Corporate America is up to you.

Now you've got it! Corporations are people too! They're the job creators. The corporation will just jettison those 47%ers that freeload off the company.

Pay attention, didn't you watch MSNBC today? - freeloaders are now down to 43%. I have gotten more people onto the tax rolls. If I'm going to start a war in Syria, at least I'm going to fund it, not like GWB. What, do you think I'm going to hock my Nobel Peace Prize medal to pay for it???
