All this talk about November

That is correct. I am with a CSO and everyone on my team has a four year degree and at least 10 years of pharma experience. It is funny that some reps think they are above us just because they work directly for the company. We do the same jobs you guys do, and sometimes better. There is not a single CSO that will hire with only a two year degree. Qualified reps are a dime a dozen these days.

Pardon me, sir...you are sometimes correct.
Times are changing in the entire industry.
I was amazed to read.....

Bachelor’s degree & 2 years of sales experience
OR
Associate’s degree & 6 years of sales experience
OR
High school diploma / GED & 8 years of sales experience.

The experience is listed as...two or more years of sales and/or marketing experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or medical device, product or hospital sales....areas, all specialties were listed.

Look, November, December, January....when the hell ever, this sales force is going to get hacked to hell and back. As if the 60-70% cleaving we've already taken isn't enough---and that doesn't even account for all the rent-a-reps that make up the 30-40% of us that are left---it's going to get worse. I'd bet not 25% of this company's real employee reps remain today compared to the sales force that existed 8 years ago.

Merck is pathetic. What an absolute sh!thole of an employer.

Hey, what can one say other than welcome to pharmaceutical sales in the year 2013. It sucks no matter where you go if you're looking at the major pharmas. Too bad it happened but then look what's happened to healthcare in general. The system sucks and it's a pretty shitty place in which to work for many people regardless whether they are at Merck or elsewhere in the system.

Listen up-its not November its already going on in a quiet way. Primary Care Areas all over the country with low reach and frequency are getting the axe or asking reps to relocate if they won't they are let go. Due to small numbers of reps let go at a time they don.t have to give 60 day warning and some are getting a paltry severance as was noted in changes for 2013. Contract reps are inserted and presto just saved the company millions. I can not blame the company because many areas just are shut down. I do believe the company should give a little more of a package to those who have put in many years and not a phone call and good bye.

These layoffs, cuts and merger job losses are done with a phone day. The DCO usually has the job of giving bad news and its usually by a script.

Its clear they're looking more closely at everyone. I think anyone who has not taken their job seriously enough to put in at least 100% or more in time and effort has been a fool or idiot. When times are tough as they are now, more is always expected by any company.

Interesting-wonder if this is what our Mandatory Tuesday Upate with DCO is? Going to be? Only certain districts (low access) on the call-not the entire region.

"...reach & frequency..." HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I'l give then 74 calls per day, if that's what they want. It's one big charade. Dumbasses.

Sounds plausible. Perhaps they want us to bust it out in September and October, because they know productivity will drop after the announcement. Sad that we are even thinking this way--nobody trusts the company anymore. They should send the trust and value surveys to the employees--Ha Ha!

Trust and Value - do you really think Timney or Frazier care about them. Wake up people - we have a trial lawyer as a CEO - there's a reason the FDA is clamping down on us and the government is our biggest customer. The rest of the world doesn't trust trial lawyers - only Merck would make one it's CEO just because he was the mastermind of the VIOXX debacle.

The rate things are going with minimal access the contract rep of the future will just show up and get the samples signed for. I bet they still put a dm out in the field just to justify the position. This along with over-coverage with most companies and less than 10 to a district in many cases....just ridiculous.....and the stockholders think these companies spend judiciously???

So how are those Culture scores working for you lately?
