Activyl

I propose we create a secret code that only MAH reps know so we can differentiate the flames from the real posts.

Getting deep on this board...

How about "I'm a douche bag". That should suffice as your secret password. This board has been the ugly chick at the bar for quite a while. Be happy your getting a few looks.

As a distributor rep, I have better products to sell than another me to product by a poorly run company like MAH. I work with some really good reps and feel sorry that they have to work for a company like MAH. Poor marketing and programs that give product away for no reason will continue to get you no where. The Activyl promotion is weak. Let the clinic decide which size they want instead of making them buy all sizes. It is obvious that their sales group has no input into promotions....to bad. Just another typical low budget promotion from MAH.

"Me Too" is what the M in MAH stands for.

Please don't buy generic Otomax but feel free to buy our "branded generic" Tri-Heart Plus.

Activyl is just another step in the decline of this once proud company.

Let's look at the great products this company has come out with in the last 10 years:
Auriflush
Zubrin
Selecture
Home Again Yearly Registrations
Canine Influenza

I'm a Merck CABU rep. Is everything about Activyl perfect? No? Is the product a blockbuster? No. Is the marketing impressive? No.

But I've already placed several initial orders and I've only been detailing the product for a week. My CIP clinics were very impressed with the efficacy and ease of use of Activyl. I expect to have no problem making quota and my full commission potential with this product.

Of course you will make your sales quota because you probably have a very very small quota. Like every other "new" product that your company launches it lacks the marketing support needed for it to be anything other than another product in your profile. Until MAH does a through house cleaning within your marketing department and senior sales management your company will never be anything more than a small potato within the animal health business. That's just the facts.

For those around for the Zubrin launch who could forget Andy's brilliant move to limit us to know more then two Detail pieces at a time. No detail leave behinds but thousands of placebo Zydis tabs.

In fairness you can only judge a markeing person by their record. Zubrin, Selecture. Gentocin Topical, Neobacimyx, Gentocin Ophthalmic, Ethicon, White Goods and TH+. Just a few examples of Andy's marketing muscle.[/QUOTE

Come on, ASS's marketing muscle will sell anything. ASS is a marketing machine.

Why mention Robin at the bar? Activyl is already a mess. Can not be sold in tick areas and the marketing initiative in flea only areas is weak and not customer friendly. this product will crash and burn and be off the market in two years. when the failure becomes obvious it will be blamed on us.

That has got to be the creepiest marketing materials. Is Activyl made at the Island of Dr. Moreau?

Agreed! if I hear disturbing one more time when I show Activyl detailers I will burn it all. The campaign is creating an immediate negative impression with our prime customers. please abort this ugly advertising disaster.

Re: Activyl September 2013

I am looking for an alternative to Frontline Flea & Tick, won't go with Comfortis ( Trefexis) -- and just found Activyl __ I can't tell from reading this competitive blog - is this a viable product and safe for older ( healthy) dogs? or is it equivalent to Advantage? thanks!

This site is really more a venting site for various pharma companies. You have to understand that when you read it - people take out their frustrations here. And there are many reasons to be frustrated at Merck.

Regarding your question on Activyl, the flea and tick efficacy of Activyl are generally excellent from the past year of experience. Its claim to fame is how long the adulticidal efficacy continues as well as it's ability to disrupt flea egg production and life cycle. There are several studies demonstrating this (long after the 4 weeks on the label) and our feedback from customers says the same. The tick efficacy is also very good, but likely not hugely different from Advantix or Vectra 3D, which both also contain permethrin.

Activyl has had over 15 safety studies demonstrating safety for mammals. With Tick Plus, the usual precautions regarding cats must be followed.

I hope this is helpful. Our quotas on this product are obscene, which is why you may hear such negativity. It is not the product's fault - it is the marketing manager's. The product is extremely effective.

I am a customer not a competitor... My dog is a very large 7 month old long haired German Shepherd. This is the first time I have ever used a monthly treatment of any kind on my dogs, I usually used nothing. The breeder talked me into it. He didn't say use activyl, that was the vet's idea.

I use this product on my dog and it seems to work well. Application is easy. He hasn't had any ticks or fleas since I started and he was scratching a tad beforehand. He was 2 mos. old and the vet said it was fleas, but I saw no evidence of that. I supected mites. It doesn't matter, because that all stopped.

The dog doesn't like it when first applied, he goes a lil' nuts for about 10 min.

What I don't like about it is the greasy, oily residue. He is a long hair and it doesn't dry up ever. So you have to wash it off 1-2 days after application becuse he isn't pleasing to the touch after application and it makes grooming a nightmare. Work on that.

It should be priced cheaper. After all, it didn't take rocket science to mix ant poison and permethrin together.

That's all.

Good thoughts ... Seems funny though ...
