PIP’S can be a wonderful thing for ass kissers like myself. I targeted a rep in my district that I perceived to be a threat for my reasons. I kept planting negative thoughts about this person’s work ethic to my manager at every opportunity trying to make this rep look bad and it finally worked! They were PIP’d out! Was it terrible what I did? I just call it survival of the fittest. Sort of like natural selection. The stronger rep, me, survived so it was justified. The funny thing is this rep worked far harder than I ever have!

Go to your doctor and explain how severely depressed and anxious you are due to stress from your boss and work. You can't sleep, eat, hardly get out of bed due to depression. Lay the groundwork. Then, go to a followup appointment in a couple of weeks and say it's getting much worse. You just need a break. Then, ask if short-term disability may be an option. If that doctor says no, go to a psychiatrist and repeat.

Look for another job and see if you have anything documented in field coaching reports, texts or emails that could be construed as biased.
if so-get a CHICAGO employment lawyer - Chicago is also where AbbVie Legal is based. Like any other town - the legal community is a small one. The AbbVie attorneys that handle HR are 9-5 salaried box checkers-not hustlers like lawyers looking for a percentage of a settlement. Good luck and get out of that juvenile clown show that is AbbVie.

I agree with one exception. Act like you have genuine interest in working through the PIP. Assuming it’s a 90 day, “work” until about day 82 then go on disability. Now you can drag them along for about six months total which gives you more time to look for a better job. If you really want to screw your manager and HR, apply for FMLA at the end of the short term disability. True, FMLA is unpaid leave but they cannot backfill or even post your position. Until the additional 12 weeks is up. That’s federal law right there.

I’m telling you this as someone who sat on the HR side of the table at another organization. I’ve advised a number of people in your position to do exactly what I described above. With one exception, it worked like a charm no matter where they were employed.

Abbvie is kicking you out the door. Might as well get paid and make it as difficult as possible for them.

I was put on a PIP and asked HR to explain better to me what the expectations were and they told me if I wanted to continue segueing I would be gone then.

My idea, proven right or wrong, is likely to win a Nobel Prize. If I receive it, I will donate it to the High School I attended. That's where the madness begins. That's where the madness begins. I don't want to be missed. I don't want to be remembered. I want to be anonymous. I believe that is what bothers you the most. You think just because you have a technical advantage over me that equates to some form of power. It doesn't. Carry on, little men and women.
