Abbott Nutrition

I currently work for competitor and have third interview with Abbott for RM position.I Successfully manage an existing territory with 45% growth for the past 6 years in the healthcare industry I have vast Experience in physician and hospital sales. I have 10+ years experience in the areas of clinical and community nutrition including 5 years in sales and marketing. My Specialitys are Nutrition, Nutrition support, hospital and primary care physician sales, specialty sales, customer loyalty. The offer by Abbott would be for significantly more than Iam making now ,which is around 130K base and 30-40K bonus plus options.Whats the culture like and is don patton still here ? The only drawback is I saw you folks were -3.7% for Q416 Why ?

I have ran into many Abbott reps - great company but the Pediatric Nutrition is a real hot mess. The Sales Training team are psycho - the role plays come out of Pharma about 25 years ago - model is now dead. The SE Regional is run by a real piece of work Robyn. She is has gotten rid or forced out so many reps in the last couple of years. I do not work in VA - but her and her two year old manager have run the state into the ground. So many people have left or been fired for nothing. Expecting contracts in big systems overnight - forced strategy meetings 3-5 times a week - the DM has at least two meetings weekly - Our state just got the WIC contract and now we are doing great but VA has had it for years - they have lost the market share and continue to lose. Maybe being a leader means not treating your workforce like slaves and like human beings. Robyn and her DM in VA have no clue how hated Abbott is because of their heavy handed tactics. I have a doc or two that has come to work in my state. They say their old hospital systems will not go back to Abbott with their attitudes and how they try to role play them to death. Forget the process and just sell!

What is happening! It used to be a good company, now it verges on an abusive environment. Marketing direction changes with the way the wind is blowing, and bonus goals are so grey, it's almost impossible to achieve 100%. Literally some are the opinion of your manager. I just left, and now I can't even get A/P to pay my last expense report (that was approved and submitted for payment). That's just a small example of the attitude. Stay away from this company. Don't waste your time.

Its the Pediatric Nutrition division I know that they are speaking of - things switch daily depending on the DM - senior management has some real nuts working at regional - its become a real pharma culture - they rely on science and not relationships and customer service. The SE Regional Manager is abusive so are some of the DMs to their employees. I know that some have been reported up to HR. I know of several former employees taking to a lawyer right now for the verbal and mental abuse going on.

Unfortunately Don Patton had a very bad climbing accident. He was scaling Mount Espre' in France when suddenly his cord snapped. He plunged 4,00 feet. Fortunately he was heard screaming, "I was the inventor of the Simple Pack". He was a true innovator.
