Abbott Nutrition

The real end of Ross began in the late 90's. Abbott PPD market and sales managers, as well as sales reps began to infiltrate Ross. I suspect one reason is that they were unemployable in any other industry. Many of these people had developed deep resentment and hatred toward Ross Laboratories. Ross employees and management were highly respected in the medical community. Ross provided a tremendous cash flow to Abbott that saved the PPD division. PPD was a money pit. And they knew it. Unemployable anywhere else and disrespected by the medical community and industry peers, these toxic beings hung on and laid in wait for an opportunity to move to a division that made money hand over fist. They meanwhile worked on mercenary skills in cutting throats to advance. Some became sociopaths and ended up in jail. Others were able to learn how to act like normal human beings until they could make their moves.

Problem was that leaders at Ross did not understand how evil can grow in people that have no sense of worth to community, customers or others. But it was too late. By the time that D. Patton left after unleashing his firebrand way of destroying business, lives and people, the cast had been set. Miles White made a mistake in loyalty to D. Patton. He should have let him go to jail during the TAP scandal. Miles has been a good CEO but was hoodwinked by his troops. My advice to Miles is to clear out anyone that rode D. Patton's coat tails. Bring in people from the outside. Not from healthcare or PPG. Think Miles! Think!

Very true my man, same for all us over here in Yerp

When will DV and SW "right size" the sales force. DM's and RM's should get oscars for their performance not bonuses. How they have been able to justify their jobs and those of the reps to upper management is amazing. Maybe those two are really just blind and dumb. But, seriously they could cut the sales force in half and I guarantee the number of true sales calls would stay the same. Time for the dog and pony show to end. Rep impact has diminished and DM's have become task monitors creating senseless busy work to make it look like they have meaning. They know their reps aren't working. They just don't want DV to know. Had she been a AN rep, she'd know, but she's being fooled. Pay me my severance so I can take a long vacation to deprogram myself and start over.

I'm tired of living a lie.

RM's and DM's know that if they right size this company that half of them would be gone or worse for them, they might have to carry a bag. They will continue to push the crap up the hill while demanding that the reps generate the crap info to be pushed.

This whole situation reminds me of GW Bush and WMD's in Iraq. Everyone up the chain of command wanted to find WMD's, so the people at the production side found some weak evidence to prove WMD's. We go to war and expend our blood and treasure...and in the end, no WMD's. Then the Bush haters cried "Bush lied people died". What will they at Abbott when they discover this farce? "RM's BS'd, reps over slept" or "Dm's fabricated while reps sat in parking lots to masterbate"

If you have some better ones, I am open to hear them.

I have to question our leadership if they can't figure out that they do not need half their sales force to be effective. I'm just waiting to retire and was hoping to get an early buy out, but I'm beginning to think they will never make cuts. They should be embarrassed, MJ has half as many reps and DM 's manage 12 reps per district. Oh well, I'll cruise my remaining 10 months till 59.5.

think implosion.

We had a HUGE recall back in October which was a total manufacturing screw up. The general manager's butt is on the line, so the sales force must take us back to where we were pre-recall, yesterday. If you fall a little off the pace, you will be thrown over the side and a new rower will be put in your place.

But, if you like management by intimidation and the threat of being put on a plan always hanging over your head, as you watch your co-workers being tossed overboard, working through the night at hospital in-services, and enough busy work to make a grown man cry, this might be a job for you. Also add the the fact that we no longer have individual bonus payouts, it is based on district goals, it could be a blast.

Not than I am bitter mind you.

It would serve all Abbott stakeholders well if someone got the nerve to share this with Miles. It could help him save is job and the jobs of many innocent dedicated Abbott employees. BTW Miles, you may want to clear out your employee resources department and AN HR. They are covering up a lot of unethical management behavior. Think TAP all over again.

I have an interview in atlanta anyone know anything about that market or the manager? Do they work in teams or solo.

I can only post from the POV of pediatric side.

Overall, the business is a mess. The national sales manager has the attitude that one rep in each district must be on plan and on the way out the door. The RM is short time as well, he is on plan, and most likely so is the DM (half of them are in the region). All of this in an effort to pretend that the MASSIVE recall back in October did not happen. You see, when you let bug parts and bug larva get into your infant formula...people kind of lose trust in you.

But, in Atlanta, they just lost the WIC bid and a major hospital chain. If you don't know about WIC, half of the babies in the country are fed via the wic program with free formula. The half of people who would pay for formula are either nursing or using store brand. So, without wic, it is an uphill battle.

But, you do work alone, but your bonuses are based on district performance so you are still tied to the dead weight, but don't worry, they are probably on plan and will not be there in a couple of months.

If you have something else cooking, you may want to wait for that.

When is the company going to do 360s on the pathetic management team or do something to hold them accountable for their performance!! There is a mgr in NJ who questions a member of his team while he is out on disability with cancer! what a piece of shit. If he actually cared about his team instead of trying to fire everyone of them, (and they are a high performing team without him) then he might have a little bit of respect from the customers (who I'm sure HATE him) and people who dont want to work with him!

I cant wait to put my manager under. he is being set up , while i sit and watch. this is going to be very interesting... he is so busy trying to put everyone on plans...he cant even see who really is working out there. some of these reps in my distrist have really wrapped their managers under their fingers. this is going to be very amusing to watch how it ends up. the sad side is that they are overworking those good reps and those about to retire so it will make them want to leave sooner. Those are the ones we still need around.
