Pension yes, but it pays very very little - unless you've been with them for like 35 years. You only get out of it exactly what you pay in to it unless you do a very long career, then you get a little extra than what you paid in. Nothing is for free!

Abbott has a pension Annuity. You need to be at the company five years to get something. At ten years it jumps up by a large amount. I was a staff engineer and after 12 years I get about $22K/yr so it's not a lot. But the monthly is higher than the average SSI check. So, if the work is good and your pay (over the 10 years) is good it's a nice benefit. Of course, the longer you stay at Abbott the higher the amount.

Abbott also has retiree health care. You earn the benefit after 10 years' service and Abbott pays about 50% of the premium. You can insure the whole family. I think this benefit only kicks in if you retire from/leave Abbott after you turn 55 years old. Again, the longer your Abbott service the more Abbott pays.

How is the life insurance policy? Figure I better know prior to going to my 1st POA in one the murder capitals of the country.
