6385 - psych

I know Carl B. is the head of the project...its moving slowly because the client is being extremely picky about the DSMs they're hiring. Must have prior DSM psych experience and they're having trouble finding enough qualified candidates, or at least ones who will accept typical low CSO pay for a specialty position.

Just curious how you "know" Carl B is the head of this project? Interviews for reps will be May/June with a July start date... so says the recruiter. The client hasn't been formally announced, so who is it that you think the client is that's being "picky" about DM's. You have a lot of specific detail in your post, (ie "moving slowly", "trouble finding qualified candidates", "low CSO pay")... for a contract that hasn't named a partner. Wondering how you know these things to be true?

There are CNS jobs posted and in the description it mentions Ortho McNeil/J&J as the drugmaker. It's # is 7055.

2 different contracts... 7055 is OrthoMcneil, as you said, however 6385 is a Psych Specialty contract most likely w Labopharm for Oleptro launch... once daily trazodone. Man I wish that one were starting sooner. I have an eye on one of those spots and hoping like hell to get it. May/June starts the interview process for July start/launch date.

No further clarification for your post? The pay is in the 65K range. For contract I wouldn't call that low. That was the mid range for the Psych Specialty contract w Lilly (Zyprexa/Strattera) Don't post something with so many details (especially negative ones) unless you can support your statements. Doesn't help anyone.

whats the phone interview like, just situational questions? They said it is Pass/Fail...I have been in the biz for over 7 yrs, sold 4 different CNS drugs, got downsized...do they hire guys? I just know from my old employer that my former DSM filled 6 slots over the 5 yrs I was w/him(I got transferred) all w/young college chicks...do we guys at least have a chance on contracts?

correct - it's a newly approved med so there will be no managed care coverage for at least 6 months, longer if they have no managed care pros working on it; if this scares you, please move on and narrow the playing field for those of us who can sell.

And there is already an IR version on the generic market. It will be a very tough sell in heavily managed care markets.

You seriously need to do some homework if you expect to get thru an interview with the kind of knowledge you're showing! Trazadone IR is generic, Oleptro is hardly the same thing, but I'll let you figure it out.

No shit sherlock. The question was about managed care. There is NO WAY this product will ever get any sort of managed care. If you think it will because it's "different", you are a douche rocket.

New to the whole concept of contract sales..10 years psych specialty exp. and interested in a change. it's not worth the $ I make for the hours I drive and after hours programs I do. WOuld the new contract for trazadone type drug include car? benefits? Nobody has pension anymore anyway...so it couldnt be that different. Im even ok with driving my car if they pay well for the use.

$60-65k, 25% bonus, company car and gas card, medical, dental, life, vision, tuition assistance, 401k. The postings are probably still up but screening and IVs have started so you may want to contact either an Innovex rep locally or get the name of the internal recruiter in your area.

Salary range for 6385 is 60-70K. This board is, and always has been, so far behind the NQ board in terms of current info it's almost not worth reading. If you have interest in anything other than the few originally specific "Innovex" contracts that occurred well before the branding under the Quintiles umbrella, you would be wise to stick to the NQ board.
Virtully any question on this board has been answered (and well discussed) on the NQ board sometimes weeks before it ever even comes up here. How these threads go on and on at a snails pace as if there isn't a much more current resource is beyond me and always has been.

instead of complaining, why don't you do something proactive by contacting sara palmer and informing her that innovex no longer exists, and should be moved over to the "lost civilizations" category?

I know because I'm not a clueless newb and I've talked to people I have contacts with in the company. Just because you don't have a clue as to what's going on, don't assume everyone else is in the dark too...

Have any of you asked physicians about Oleptro? I spent the last the last 4 days in the field asking my drs. about this and they can't believe someone would make a once daily trazodone. I mean I have never heard more negative comments about a drug in my life! I seriously told the last 33 drs that I called on about this product and ALL of them completely hated the idea of it. Some were psychs, some where PC but they all said the same thing: What a terrible idea! I am really getting scared because I have another interview tomorrow and I don't want to be stuck with a dog of a drug.

Anyone else talked to drs. about it? Maybe it is just drs in the south that feel this way...(I am in the Southeast, but I don't want to give up more info in case my new manager is the kind of guy that gets on CP)
