Tanezumab's Phase 3 Results: A Promising Sign For Non-Opioid Pain Treatments

As the opioid crisis has unfolded concerns have grown about dependency and the potentially addictive nature of opioid-based pain treatments. The immediate policy and payer response has been to curb prescriptions of opioid analgesics. Directives from the Drug Enforcement Agency, guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and a number of state laws, have filtered down to all layers of the healthcare system, resulting in fewer opioid prescriptions.
