Antimicrobial resistance doesn’t grab our attention like the novel coronavirus does. But, perhaps it should. Each year in the U.S., at least 2.8 million people get an antibiotic-resistant infection, and more than 35,000 people die.
And, according to a recent study by researchers at the Washington University, that number may be much higher. Annually, perhaps as many as 162,000 deaths in the U.S. may be attributed to multidrug resistant organism infections.
