FDA Approves Trevena's IV Opioid for Short-Term Acute Pain Management

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a new intravenous opioid for short term management of acute pain in a hospital setting, Trevena’s Olinvyk.

Olinvyk is indicated for short-term intravenous use in hospitals or other controlled clinical settings, such as during inpatient and outpatient procedures. It is not indicated for at-home use, the FDA noted in its announcement.
