On April 13, 2018 the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down a Maryland law that allowed the state attorney general to sue drugmakers who raised prices on generic or off-patent drugs by more than 50% in a year. Manufacturers would have faced a fine of up to $10,000 and potentially have to reverse the price hike.
