Zimmer trauma going direct

Z is going direct...what do the big distributors think of this? Do they think this will really help get surgeons to use there trauma products? Is this just a response to J&J/Synthes? Are any of their joint reps going to go with or will this be a totally new sales force? Thoughts?

Agreed, Zimmer is going direct...right into the shitter!
 









From what I've heard, the distributors do not like this model. I don't quite understand how it's more beneficial for Zimmer Corporate. Zimmer overall just still isn't even close to being one of the big trauma players, even though they've come out with some great products in the last year.
Can anyone shed some light?
 



Please don't tell me we just hired Brad Boles in southern us to help us with trauma? This is the former synthes guy who went postal in Carolina on one of his surgeons? We must be desperate!
 



Where in the South?
Did y'all see the email that one of the VP's of trauma marketing quit. And, the guy who was in charge of helping come up with a distal radius plate just resigned, too.
Wonder if there's a shake up with this new president lady.

Funny because the guy who was in charge of the plate quit because he couldn't stand the VP! He shoulda hung on a little longer!
 



Just found this forum because I am researching a position with Zimmer Trauma in Austin. Not exactly glowing good news that I'm reading here. Being new to the industry, I want to get the group's thoughts on how difficult it would be to sell the Zimmer Trauma products. I have one Orthopedic surgeon telling me "you're a great guy and all, but it will be an uphill climb with their products. They are not even 4th on my list to use."

Is that because of bad products or just lack of representation?

Seems like they have management issues as well... What is going on with Zimmer Trauma?

Yep, we hired this guy Boles. Met him at OTA and he is a joke. Only thing worse than his business acumen was his breath. The Synthes people were laughing at us for hiring their scraps. We must be desperate.
 






Anyone who's been around Ortho for any length of time knows that Zimmer Trauma products are pretty much out of mind. Yeah they have a natural nail and motion loc but historically they've always been least respected by orthopods. Small frag Screws break, instrumentation sucks.

Although there are pockets of Zimmer Hospitals around the country like Hennipin co, most are joint reps just scratching around for an ankle case or prox humerus. Most reps couldn't make it on trauma alone.

Zimmer Trauma direct position QOL? Coming from trauma i understand being on call but is there any rotation with other reps? Also, I understand there seems to be direct reps and distributors scattered throughout. Can't be on call (not able to leave town) 24/7 365 days per yr, correct?

What is the estimated income for an avg territory with an avg Synthes rep in the area? Thx!

Don't even waste your time with Zimmer. The so called leadership at this company is really, really bad. If they can find a way to fuck it up, they will.
