YER is upon us!!

If you are in sales but not managing salespeople you will managed under contract very soon. Essentially you will be paid by the hour and by the mile plus a nominal % bonus that is mostly driven by divisional results. This model is easy to contract out and it makes meeting reducing total employee numbers easy to achieve.

"you will be managed under contract very soon"? That's if one is let go and chooses to sign on with a CSO company. Once I'm let go, that's the end of pharma for me. Definitely. No way I would provide my experience at such a huge discount.

Sounds like the merck rep to cso merck rep post. Do you really think any decent rep would leap into the mud pile of CSO work? Who is could afford to? Most would turn their back on pharma.

Merck wants to insult you...the more insults, the less costly for them...and the greater likelihood that you will leave...so that they can replace you with a CSO rep.

The YER is another joke, especially for new managers who show favoritism and use this process to rank and bash certain employees. Oh, don't forget if you disagree you can always provide comments on your YER. Yippee. The entire differentiation process is flawed. Don't even bother contacting HR, Omsbudsmen, etc. Word is serious things are brewing in a certain unnamed group. Some employees have bypassed the internal system and are going after managers in a civil suit. This way HR and others are caught offguard and don't have time to collaborate and make up stories regarding YER's and performance reviews. Imagine an a hole manager sitting pretty at his house getting served by the best law firm in the US. Ouch.... Remember, if a manager can't back up ALL written statements on a YER and bonus outcome they can become as scrutinized as a field sales person. Any defamation behind an employees back will certainly lead to a court win. Merck doesn't necessarily pay the outcome and fees if the manager is slapped with a personal civil suit. This is a whole different matter.
