Where is George Romero when you need him. We all could be starring in the sequel "Career of the Living Dead".
They have managed at last count more than a dozen reps from the protected groups out of their jobs. It is called PIP. They know eventually, protected or not, white or black, you will break and leave on your own. My previous manager told me exactly that a few years ago.
Really, we have a guy in our region who was on a PIP the year before last, finished in the bottom third this year, and got a call to interview for S3. What is wrong with this picture?
It does not mean that guy was a "poor" rep. The manager could have used PIP as a way to terrorize everyone. His business could have gone mail order and nothing was being credited back. He could be going through personal crises and as usual, the manager opted to ease him out. PIP these days is now for the reps not performing well. It is a tool used legally and illegally to get a person out the door without a severance pay.
How do you end up in the top 25% overall and not get a promotion, while people who were on the bottom 20% the last two years end up getting a promotion because of hokey pillars? Management bases promotions on non-business items? What is going on at this company? DCOs preach business, business, business, yet do not promote on it at all.
