WTH- 127 X reps & 70% DMs apply for Biogen biotech

This is crazy. Was told by a Biogen recruiter that everyone is trying to bail Xeljanz. I ask what makes her say that.
She said they had 127 Xeljanz reps who posted online Biogen website for their expansion. And also said 15 Xeljanz DMs posted.
That is 50% of reps and 70% of DMs.

She did say many did not quality for the tenure they want but still having half the reps looking is alarming.
We have 4 yrs of LOE left before layoffs, so odd so many reps are trying to bail now.
 




When any organization has 70% of mgt & 50% reps actively looking for other jobs, that is a serious crisis which shows the extreme underlying problems going on.
Probably Culture & Leadership is 80% of the issues I would assume.
Then maybe an empty pipeline in 4yrs LOE is the other 25%.

If the Leadership & Culture is strong, then employees will self manage the lack of a pipeline to backfill Xeljanz.

Sounds like DEEP issues over there in that division.
 




It doesnt matter now. Economy is going be shut down thru summer now & massive layoffs coming so these reps would be cut anyway thus its best for them to look now than after the hatchet man strikes and they are on the streets competing against hundreds of reps for hardly any jobs.

They are just being smart and proactive
 




The economy may not actually be shut down. It is yet to be determined.
But, rep access was almost zero before the virus - so it should be extremely tough to get in to medical offices after the quarantine is lifted.
This will change the business model of pharma sales.

So says you. Might be true, might not.
 




Yes 130 of 260 reps posting for Biogen 50 openings was alarming, but for a 25 yr vet I see the tell tell sign being the 18 DMs who are trying to leave. This tells me that management knows or at least suspects something in the near future if 75% of the DMs are posting & looking for other jobs.
 




Biogen is a hot high in demand biotech.
Who wouldnt want to apply for their expansion regardless of what Pfizer division you work for.
Just getting company stock at Biotechs is worth jumping ship as you can make 7 figures just in stock. Pfizer need to be in top 20 to get a measly 4k of RSU stock (the 6k of TRSU Options are worthless & 80% time expire worthless)
Biotech 100% RSU stock that EVERY rep gets and it is 30k-50k a yr---- not measly 4k.
Plus Biotech stocks go up up up with occasional pullback.
Big Pharma stocks like Pfizer hasnt moved much in decades!

Finally if you find a rep that doesnt think looking at Biotechs is worth it (especially stable established Biotechs), then they are really clueless and dumb about finance or have a trust fund golden spoon or big inheritance thus spoil selfish brats that dont deserve EARNING their own riches.

Nobody is happy , only a few trust fund babies & people who never had a job outside of Pfizer.
Those 2 groups deserve to go down in flames with this toxic militant driven division.

Agree, I would assume more applied for a great Biotech like Biogen.
Those who say are happy are not working, riding coat tails of experience counterparts, letting 2-3 reps call in 90 docs while they work on house projects, or have a trust fund or spouse who brings in most $$.
If you are actually working 50-60hrs wk, even just 40hrs then you are not happy w Culture
 




Money talks, people walk.

who really knows what the number is but even 10% is high.

It’s hard to compete with biotech pay when so many more people are feeding from the same trough.
 




The expansion at Biogen is for aducanumab....do a quick google search....that medicine may never see the light of day. Biogen isn’t what it once was.....that is the case at too many companies these days and kinda sad.

still....several other biotech’s like Abbvie, Amgen, Gilead are great places to be. I never worked at Pfizer but at a different Big Pharma company...for a looooong time and made a change to a big biotech. Couldn’t be happier and wished I’d done it sooner.
 




Why so many Xeljanz reps??? Dugh it is the dysfunction HQ leadership.
Culture is terrible
Not Fun
Call avg Reach Freq driven
Want reps who just say YES SIR and take orders.
So who would want to stay in an enviroment like this sewer pool .
Just surprised not all 250 reps didnt apply!
 




All those Reps & managers applying for Biogen's expansion are just doing what the Top guy to us to do. Just following his direction .
But you better be talented w strong skills to land a high paying Biotech job.
 




Lotz wants reps to follow marching orders from Marketing driven SOV metrics. Well the reps were also just following his orders from NSM to go out and see if you can get a better offer w another company.
That is all the Xeljanz reps are doing with Biogen BMS & Gilead....

I just got an offer last week , going through background check now.
NSD told me same thing over 100 Xeljanz reps posted but they only want the top 5-10.
 
















Probably the same 100 reps who posted for Norvartis & BMS drug launches both to sell an MS drug which took several Pfizer DMs and reps nationally.

Gilead NSDs already interviewed & selected their reps in the major markets same time or before the DMs even hired. NSDs already have their #1 candidates w verbal offers just waiting in wings with verbal offers while waiting for written offers post covid19 shutdown.
Many states had final interviews & top candidate selected by NSD & VP before the DM has even started.
They moved extremely fast I heard, then covid19 put breaks on background checks so they are frozen for written offers until vendor goes back to normal.

Biogen similar warp speed ramp up then got 6 month delay that put the brakes on hiring.
They had the Director & Managers in place & committed having already completed background checks then got halted .
So those 127 reps might have to wait 6 months now.
