Wtf was that confusing CV call?!

I wouldn’t count on cv having a leg up on pc. What are the rules? Geography? Cost? Those would be the top 2 imo. Sure as hell won’t be relationships.

Expecting around a 20% cut in sales considering what we are seeing via maps.

Novartis refers to it as minimizing disruption. Just telling you what has happened historically. As far as geography goes, when they broke up derm territories a few years ago, they gave one of the guys in my city a territory where the closest point was 1.5 hours from his house just to keep him and to keep the relationships in tact.

Sorry. Don’t buy it it. So the derm guy had numerous relationships 1.5 hours from where lived and kept him due to the relationships. They kept him for other reasons. None of them being the relationships.

When someone is displaced, do they get a severance package? What does that look like at Novartis?

you can go to resources4me and it’s listed there in detail regarding severance for reps. We are considered level 6 and it would be the enhanced severance with a minimum of 16 weeks paid in a lump sum. The other details regarding insurance are listed as well in writing. $2500 for “retraining” is also available.

That’s why they use a third party to make the decisions. So they can’t be sued! Your response is stupid! Your abl or rd have no input and when business rules are applied to accounts that the business is primarily coming from Cards then why would a PCP make the cut? They would hire the rep with the experience.. there’s no reason to sue if your not qualified for a job where the majority of the business is coming from the specialist and a small amount from high decile pcp docs. Clearly you don’t understand
This is my 3rd Pharma company and I can tell you that managers at district and regional level ALWAYS have input when downsizing is involved. Always. The lie is spun that decisions are out of their control for one reason only: to minimize the chances of the company getting sued.

Totally agree. At least at the director level they have some input. A vendor will spit out what territories should look like and then there is the ability to make some “tweaks” based on local geography. So if they want a certain rep to stay they will just shift parts of the new territories to favor individuals. It’s not always obvious but in smaller divisions you can see this is the case in past restructurings o

he had already covered most of the geography before realignment. Lost the part closest to house to another territory where the rep lived closer. Derm has and had much bigger territories than CV. Don’t care if you believe it or not. None of it changes the fact that it is common practice at Novartis to prioritize minimizing disruption in accounts over who lives the closest. The only way a PCP rep stays over a CV rep is if no CV rep who has covered the newly created territory lives even remotely close - or is a turd that they want to get rid of.

Not when they cut MS last year. They didn't give a shit. A vendor pick and chose. President cup winners gone. Didn't matter if territory rep had amazing relationships. It was a mind numbingly dumb exercise

I don’t know of any situation where their person who stayed didn’t already cover part of the new geography unless one was created where the person who had covered it didn’t live even remotely close. It’s not like they get info on who has the best relationships. Duh.

When the last restructure took place in CRM, the RDa and ABLs DID have subjectivity and the ability to maneuver territories to remain viable (adding or removing zip codes). There is a spectrum threshold number/metric ZS Associates looks at but management does have the ability to adjust a territory as long as it stays within the range. Some territories are higher ranked for volume (or whatever metric/value they look at for territories) and some are less. I can personally tell you an ABL/RD can manipulate within the confines. As far as not living in the territory, I personally believe that would be the number 1 qualifier to slot an individual. Obviously there are anomalies which occur but the vast majority of folks will likely need to already live in their respective territory to be placed.

In my personal opinion, I can’t fathom displacing a current CV Rep by a PCP Rep. Continuity does matter and if there is equal footing, I would think the PCP rep will need to apply for a PSS position because they will be displaced. The bottom line is, Novartis is moving towards a Speciality Sales Force and Primary Care is a past time.

However they do it, I hope it’s sooner than later. All this speculating and worrying about the unknown is distracting. Hard to care about seeing offices when it all may not matter in a month. Good luck to all.

100% true. Reps will get ranked within a district. Some very good reps will get let go…some turds will get placed. The rationale for decisions will be intentionally vague. Best of luck

Completely agree with the exception of one thing - living IN your territory. Near it, yes, but they have never made a big deal about living in your territory.
