Working at LabCorp

Yes, I agree. This company does suck. And, no, I am not lazy. I work my butt off taking care of everyone's billing issues, while still trying to upsell them on something for my ridiculous call each month. What a joke! It's really difficult to try and sell the doc on something new when his MA is handing me a stack of errors that our billing department has made. I have worked in the corporate world for many years, but never have come across a company that was so disorganized, backwards and un-motivating to their sales/service reps. I have been looking for employment elsewhere, but unfortunately, there aren't too many jobs available at the present time.

just do your job better than all the other lazies out there, actually have the balls to talk to docs after leveraging your relationship with MAs once you resolve the issues, and reach out to folks who have credibility among your peers on how to make an impact. My experience is everyone beaches and moans at this company but very few actually work, so you can stand out and advance simply by putting in 9-5 and multi-tasking, and talking to docs.

9-5 as a KAE is not even a reasonable expectation

This person is a douche.

The person who wrote this obviously didn't make it through the 1st grade. Note the hideous grammar and misspelled words. "beaches and moans"? What a joke.

I have only been with this company for three months, worst experience ever! OMG! I am a KAE and this job sucks! Please save me! What do I do?

Unless you have the power to change the company then start looking elsewhere. I am not trying to be a smartass, I am being totally serious because lots of other people are looking around. You can even start building up some residual income now as a 1099 rep.

There are some fantastic opportunities out there for any rep with LabCorp whether it’s a KAE or SME or specialty rep to make way more than they ever could at LCA. The great thing is that you work for yourself, make your own hours and are not micromanaged. If you have relationships with the following types of offices you are good to go, ambulatory surgery centers, dermatology, GI physicians and clinics, Pain clinics, podiatry, plastic surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, nursing homes, basically any surgery centers not owned by a hospital and any physician treating patients with pain if it’s a FP or IM.

The advantage and disadvantage of being a 1099 rep is freedom to be your own boss and to finally earn a fair share of the income you provide but none of the security than comes from a large corporation. If you can sell you will do great, if you are just looking to get a nice base salary and coast along then its not for you. You get no base salary but many reps in this industry are making 10K, 20K, 30K or much more every MONTH!!!!

Most companies in the compounding pharmacy industry only have one product line for their reps to sell which is transdermal pain creams but not ours. We have multiple product lines that ALL pay residual income so you make the sale once and reap the benefits thereafter sort of like insurance. Get a provider to start writing and you can earn money on not only the new scripts but all the refills. Get a client to start using our medical supply consulting service which lowers their medical supply costs by 30% to 40% every month and you start earning money off that saving every month. Get the provider or office working for you and move on to another client.

Whether it’s our company or another there will always be great opportunities for reps that can sell and with the explosion in the 1099 field there has never been as great an opportunity for reps to finally get out from under the thumb of a huge lumbering corporation that chews through reps left and right without even blinking.

Look at what's happening over at Solstas right now. They are making their reps drive their cars till 250,000 miles and they are no longer matching any money put into the 401K plan. In other words they are doing nothing to help their employees plan for retirement. All they care about is making Solstas as attractive as possible so it will be sold to either Quest or LabCorp and all the top management will get their golden parachute. Most of the employees will get let go but the top brass don't care.

You have to look out for yourself and you'll never get rich working for the man. Good luck and if you want to know more about our company then I will post it later but you should look around first if you don't like it at LCA. We are looking for superior reps all over but have some limitations due to the state authorization of the pharmacy. Good luck in whatever path you choose.

WOW! You are so smart and interesting. Can we plan to meet up and have a few drinks sometime soon? Maybe we can go back to my room...........give it to me.

That is actually not too bad an idea. With Obama Care, Hospitals buying practices every day, it is getting harder to find opportunities.

I would rather make less money and be my own boss.

This is the most toxic company to work for. It is amazing that they are able to stay in business with the moral that each employee has. They continue to try the same thing over and over and expect a different result. I don't know one employee in our region that is not looking for another job. I know a few lucky ones that have made it out and each and everyone of them are happier. No job is perfect, but this one is the worst!!
