Simple, Gold was the CEO of the company for 10 years and got Provenge approved. He has been not been convicted of any crimes and he has not been charged with crimes. There is no reason for him to be asked to leave the board. The BOD is not a legal jury. If Gold is found guilty of crimes let him rot in jail. That is how this country works. Gold's current role with Dendreon is limited to a 15 minute conference call every three months. He has very limited involvement with the company. Gold is one person out of a thousand employee company. You argue that Dendreon would be better off acquired by big pharma. Well that has not happened yet. In the meantime it would be best for as many cancer patients as possible to be getting Provenge. If you had any human decency you would be rooting for Dendreon’s success as Provenge really does help cancer patients and is a real medical advance. Instead you do the complete opposite and constantly unfairly attack the company. The bigger PR nightmare for the company is your constant barrage of anti-Dendreon misinformation on this board which is directly hurting innocent people, but obviously you could care less about those consequences.

Can anyone explain why Dr. Gold still holds a director position with Dendreon? The last few days people claiming to be Dendreon employees have admitted his "screw ups" and "mistakes". These "screw ups" and "mistakes" led to billions of dollars of investor losses, over 1000 layoffs, countless lives shattered and this animal remains on the Board of Directors of Dendreon.
You would be far better off attacking and seeking to bring Gold and Hamm to justice and leaving the hundreds and hundreds of other Dendreon employees alone. Dendreon provides a valuable and scientifically unique cancer treatment to very ill cancer patients.

It's not Gold's fault. He's been trying to negotiate a $50M payoff to leave for over a year. It's the BoD that's holding this back.

Look at any message board about Dendreon and there is one almost universal commonality. It doesn't matter if it is a board that generally pro-Dendreon or anti-Dendreon.
This one commonality are the 100's of posts that discuss Mitch Gold. His "screw-ups" and "mistakes" which people who identified themselves as employees on this board have recently called them has destroyed lives, caused billions in investor losses, caused over 1000 layoffs (many of which were employees who left other jobs to come here). Mitch Gold has become a very rich man during this time. Mitch Gold has sold over 50M in Dendreon stock while lives have been shattered due to his "screw-ups" and "mistakes."
Dendreon recently brought on a PR executive and added her to the executive team. Any PR person that has any PR sense whatsoever, would realize it is not good for the Dendreon brand to continue with Mitch Gold on it's Board of Directors. What could Mitch Gold possibly be adding at the board meetings that would justify this extremely toxic person still being associated with the Dendreon brand? All she has to do is look at any message board and see that even the most ardent Dendreon supporters despise the damage his "screw-ups" and "mistakes" caused to honest people.
As long as Mitch Gold remains associated with Dendreon, this company will never be able to move forward in my opinion. The damage that occurred under his watch is unforgettable and the Dendreon brand suffers as long as he is associated with the company.
