Why in the "F" is NVD posting for open positions?

<

Once again, this just proves what value our company places on their people. We are referred to as FTE;s (full time equivalents) to avoid even thinking of us as human. I predict any of us will have less than 5 years left

When the lay-offs were publicized in Switzerland NVS made it very plain that most of those people would be transitioned to positions in Sandoz or other divisions. And if not, they have generous social benefits there.

Go GOP!

Maybe Novartis transitions employees in Switzerland to other positions, but in the US, when you are laid off, you are transitioned out the door. Novartis routinely announces publicly to the media that affected employees will be transitioned to other positions or offered jobs within the company, but that is a lie. Laid off employees have to apply for open positions and it's doubtful they'll be hired. Of all those NIBR employees laid off in Emeryville, ONLY TWO were accepted for jobs in Cambridge.

apply away to those 'open' positions... 99% sure this is some HR contractor filling quota to interview...ask about layoff and what position is really available and you'll get reply about 'filling candidate pool' or 'possible opening' but no real job

I interviewed for an opening with NVD before the layoffs. They did explain that the prospective new hire would not be a NVD employee, but employed by a contract company, with a 3 month contract.

Its because we don't have unions here. They will soon at the VW plant in TN though.
