Severance papers being drawn up, management is lying about the potential for retention, lawyers don't want employee wrongful discharge lawsuits holding up a merger, managers cannot write up people for dismissal in the proposed integration period. wtf?

And you came up with this information how? Are you in corporate and how about a few more details?

They said that the deal will most likely be done in September. They cannot lay off until the deal is complete.

I don't disagree with the potential for retention maybe being overstated. I think people are comparing it to the Valeant option and just thinking that their chances are better than they were...however the Teva management is going to look like major dicks if they claim that they are going to keep a good number of people and the actual result is a bloodbath. Not sure why they would go out of there way to say that they want to minimize job loss if they don't really want to. There wouldn't be a major benefit to doing that. The only potential one is to keep people out there working for the next two-three months.
On the flipside, the more people that leave before the merger, the less severance Teva would have to pay out so it would seem that they would be better off putting the message out that they will be letting people go so employees would find jobs now.

If you leave in a major metropolitan area, your a goner! They have reps in those areas. They will consider reps that cover areas they might not have a high presence in. Those reps usually cost less then the NYs / Chicago's of the worlds.

Your lack of intellect is only rivaled by your lack of spelling and writing skill. You don't know a damn thing about who and how many will be retained or not. All any of us know is that the deal will be completed in September and that Teva has agreed to follow our severance policy. I would guess (yes, guess) that we will all know how they will move forward with our respective jobs in late September at the earliest. I am hopeful that I will have a crack at staying on. If it is based on performance, yearly appraisals and manager input I feel good. But, it could come down to my territory being one that doesn't fit and I will take my severance and find something else. Remember, a little over a week ago we were headed down a incredibly bleak path with Valeant. Under the circumstances this isn't nearly as bad. A reasonable chance at staying on with a good company or leaving with a good severance is 100 times better than a virtual guarantee of being laid off with a shitty severance. But, at the end of the day, we all need to make decisions that are best for us. I'm holding tight to see what happens.

Trust me, I know.

Hey, I'm not calling you a liar but you can appreciate the fact that anybody can write anything on here without any checks or balances. I guess I could just say screw it, this must be gospel because I saw it on here or, I could say it is BS because it is a random statement on CP. I'm just asking how you know this. Are you in corporate or sales? A few specifics would be appreciated. You obviously posted on here for a reason. If you truly are venting and trying to give everyone a heads up then why not give some specifics? I know that Buchi said point blank that they expect this deal to be done in September. I'm not an expert but it would seem to me that they probably wouldn't start cutting people until that time, at the earliest. They said at the employee meeting in Friday that both companies will be operating independently of each other until the deal is final. Again, I don't know but how do they know who to cut without having analyzed everything?

Corporate. Motivation is that many, myself included, not happy with the decisions. More info to be leaked as others get pissed off. We do have a conscience in the home office, you know?

Yes, early Q3 for closing and then things will be happening fast, severances mailed. Enjoy your time now, sit back and enjoy the long summer. No one is getting fired. Buchi wants his retainer bonus and isn't going to fuc that up with getting rid of people who will then get lawyers. Don't be led astray. Relax and throttle it back for the next 4-5 months. Your sales between now and then won't make a difference anyways for placement.

Thanks for the heads up. If sales numbers won't matter, what will?

So what will make a difference? Where you live?

That depends...are you on vacation?...because if you are not, why are you are accepting a fairly generous check every two weeks from the company that is supposed to be in exchange for you being out there working.
How about a reality check?
In addition to your salary, the company is providing you and your family with great health benefits at a very low cost, a car that you can also use for personal use, 401 K with matching contributions, along with several other benefits. They do also provide you with paid vacation so if there are days that you don't want to work, you can use them.
These benefits are provided in exchange simply for you being out there working. If you are not out working, you are essentially stealing because you are not living up to your end of the deal.
I understand what your point is with this post but I can't stand listening to people nag about smaller bonuses and all the little shit that we complain about here. I agree that it is shitty that we don't get as much as we used to in our comp dollars. However, that does not provide anyone with a valid excuse not to work. You can try to justify it to yourself by saying that you will get paid the same amount if you do or don't but that doesn't really work for me. The bottom line here is that you are accepting money for your time and you should be out in the field. We sound like little kids where it is all take, take, take, and we never want to give anything. The bare minimum we should do is act like professional adults and be out there doing our job and selling our products.
There are many people taking advantage of the fact that we have a flexible work schedule and using the smaller bonuses or the increasing amount of BS from HQ as a reason to justify their desire to slack and explain why they don't need to be out there working. While I do think the frequency requirements are a huge load of malarkey, I call BS on people that use that as a reason to not work at all. For the people that brag on here about not doing anything or freeloading off the company through catering scams or that you haven't worked in three months or whatever, I don't think it is something to be proud of just because you can get away with it. I sincerely hope you get busted but even if you don't you should feel like a unethical loser. That is like listening to a criminal brag about stealing someone's wallet. I am not impressed at all. I think you are a scumbag for stealing and I don't care if you feel like you got screwed on your bonus. It doesn't justify stealing.
If you don't see a generous salary along with all the benefits as incentive enough to just out of the house and be out there doing what you are paid to do then you are being ingrateful and don't appreciate how good you have it.

Thanks Jim. You are a major part of the train wreck that this company's sales force became. You are a terrible leader who has created an absolutely ridiculous metric driven system. Kiss my ass.

Signed,

Everyone in CNS that has been at Cephalon for more than your time here.

Sorry. Not Jim. Not even a manager. Just a rep that thinks that if someone is paid to do a job, they should do it. So because Jim Reilly is worthless, you think it is okay to just not work at all? I would get it if this were a 100% commission job. It isn't. We get a nice base and that means that the company can ask us to do certain things just because we are supposed to and they don't have to give us a carrot everytime they want us to pull the cart a little harder.
The metrics are dumb, the comp plan is terrible, JR and other senior leaders are pretty futile but none of those are reasons that you should be getting paid and not working for it.

You are correct, but you are also an unbelievable tool.
