Which pharmaceutical companies are hiring entry-level reps?

I am wanting to start a new career in the pharmaceutical industry. What are some companies that hire entry-level reps? I have no pharma experience, but I have several years of sales experience in unrelated fields. In my current position, I am in B2B sales and I am currently the top rep in our company in sales. I know of Warner-Chilcott and Strativa, but are there others out there that I should try? I have an interview with Strativa tomorrow.

Good luck with your interview, but I have to warn you that I am a veteran pharma rep an the industry is dying. Talk to any rep that's truthful and they will tell you the same thing. You would be much better off looking into equipment sales--i.e. laboratory, devices, etc. Look under boards and instead of going to company boards to see pharma cos, go to the link that says something like laboratory, etc. Believe me, if you get into pharma sales, you will acquire NO transferable skills and that will hinder you from getting another job. Outside of the pharma industry, pharma reps are seen as lazy and you don't want that reputation. Please look hard into device sales or instrumentation--you will be MUCH happier in the long run. That's not to talk of all the layoffs and buyouts/acquisitions going on right now. Plus any docs worth their weight wont see you and even the nurses look down on you these days. The industry has hired some real idiots over the years and its given the rest of us really bad reputations. Be selective. PS--go to glassdoor.com--they have info on salaries and interview questions from different companies that others have reported--maybe you'll find what you're looking for there.

Thank you for the info. I am leaning more towards pharma because I have an eight month old at home, and being on call for medical device probably wouldn't work out. I am still exploring all options, and don't want to make the switch to the wrong company.

Hello, can you recommend a website like this one for the medical device career? thank you, Danette

Hi,
I have a follow-up regarding working in the pharma industry. I'm looking for a pharma sales job, preferrably with a mid-size company that focuses on dermatological products. Does anybody have any suggestions??

Thanks
