When will Layoffs start?

You are not getting the big picture here. This virus is not just going to affect life the next 8-weeks, it is going to change life in America in hundreds of different ways, forever. One of those changes is going to be the Pharma sales model. Do you really think that doctor's offices are just going to let Rep's come waltzing in 8 weeks from now (or 10 weeks or 24 weeks)? You are going to see a flood of offices that say no more Rep's. Management will quickly realize that they don't need 800 Rep's if those Rep's can't be productive and do their job as originally planned. Rx's will be below forecast, and the financial calculations will cause management to cut the salesforce. Headcount is always a companies largest cost, and when things get tough, layoffs are the first thing they go to in order to strenghen the balance sheet.

They will open doors if they want those samples and free lunches. You might find a degree of prioritization among the companies they interact with but I feel like your forecast is alittle extreme. Time will tell. Hope you're wrong.

End of the month. Employers pay their benefits for employees monthly, so our healthcare, etc is paid through the end of March. Absolutely no reason to keep us around after that. Our offices will be so busy with their own patients and COVID19 (real or imagined) that they will not want to hear from "stay at home" reps. Plus, they're likely to be working with fewer staff because of the spread of the virus and issues like childcare since schools are closed. We are just doing busy work right now. I'm actually glad that they're are keeping us on for the remainder of the month because they certainly don't have to.

This busy work is mind numbing. Virtual lunches and sales calls - laughable. They will just do direct mail to offices regarding samples and copay cards. They can also hire temporary workers to do follow up calls with offices. Given the circumstances, these would be much more cost effective strategies. Let's face it, if we were running the company, we would probably make the same decisions.

Let's hope that all the efforts to flatten the curve work and that we can get the country running again by mid-summer. Good luck everyone.

You need to make this telesales campaign fail and fail big. Imagine a telemarketer (Us) making an impact without the f2f encounter. You just made yourself obsolete.
check the box but make it fail.

Agreed. If they can’t justify the millions of $$$ per month in salary we will be the first ones to go
Settle it down. All this money spent to ramp up sales just to lay us off? Not at this point. If this continues into the summer than this could change. All pharma companies are in the same boat for now.

Ummmmm...they did it once before...ramped up the salesforce and let half of them go

This is true but it was ages ago when vascepa was being sold at 1/4 of the current sales levels. As of this most recent week, the script output is near all time highs, which easily justify the cost of the reps. If stayed at these rates, the sales projections remain in tact. But let's go to the scenario we are looking at. People will stop going to doctor for maintenance meds, our scripts will begin to dwindle but how far is the question? Even if we lost half of the business during this time, I think there is still plenty of opportunity to keep the reps on. There wont be as much HCP spend, and obviously they will probably not pay us for use of the cars. Savings will occur in various areas. How long does this last is probably the most important question.

Should we be worried? Probably. But I think only if this goes into August-September is when those discussions really begin to happen and only if business takes an extreme hit. How the government and healthcare responds to this crises is all we can put hope on right now.

are you really that dumb? If they don’t make enough to to cover salaries they will do cuts now. They have millions to loose if they don’t.

They haven't been making enough to cover salaries for the last 15 years - what is different now? Oh yea - they have amassed 600 MILLION dollars in cash. If they lay everyone off while taking these huge stock option payments, they truly are evil, sinister SOBs. I see all kinds of CEOs taking pay reductions etc. to signal their employees that they are committed to doing whatever it takes to come out the backside with a strong company. Although we do not see this from Amarin, it would be foolish to lay off any sales reps at this time.

Nice! Nothing like that state school humor. Unfortunately, for your dumbass, it's not an insult if the other side doesn't understand. Oh well, I'll try, too. SMDB. I'd joke about your mom, but you're a rep. She's already suffered, enough.

Lol you got me! You’re sooooo much better than me the “Rep” and you’re the looser waisting time fighting with a stranger on cafepharma. FU DB!

Yet, you keep responding, and each response proves that you're an idiot. In this fight, you stand no chance. You're intellectually unarmed and unequipped for my lexicon. However, it's not all bad for you. I see potential. Just keep working on those "mom" jokes and adding unnecessary letters to words. Those will kill when you head back to the middle-school playgrounds.
