When will Ashfield contracts end?

New ashfield rep here.

I’ve never been on contract before. Can you tell me how long this contract will realistically last? I’m on the Resp side.

From listening to one of my partners it doesn’t sound like we will be around but maybe a year? And quite frankly I don’t see the need for us anyway with how BI is set up with small territories. We are already just trying to avoid each other in offices. But I’m very glad to have this job. Wish it was more permanent of course.

Anyway I’d appreciate any honest answers.

No one seems to have that answer. I'm hearing rumors as well. I don't have any insider info, but looking at the Bi portfolio, I don't see a long term life here either. Just trying to be honest here. Everyone seems to have a different guess on timelines. I have no better idea myself either. I'd say, if you have another opportunity, i wouldn't sit around waiting for something to happen.

Thanks. Yeah when I took this job I knew it was only a filler job and I had to keep looking. I’m just wondering how much time I have to find the next job.

I don’t even know why they hired a contract sales force but I’ll taje the free money lol

It seems that other contract companies have new job posting for new contracts. There are very few "new" postings for Ashfield positions. The lack of new contracts/positions speaks volumes.

I do not know why BI would keep Ashfield at their current rate of pay. This is not what reps are making but what BI is paying Ashfield. BI may restructure their contract with more service reps. This will lower their cost structure.

Good luck to all reps from Ashfield and BI.

  1. Interviewed with a regional mgr yesterday on phone as one of the previous posters wrote still in the process of hiring managers! This is slave labor! 6 months as a previous poster said and then its up to BI,the company who the contract is with to determine if they continue. Salary is hourly comes out to 40-45 thousand. No detailing of the product, a updated version of Spiriva, but you still go through all the training so you can discuss the product with staff and Mds. Get this, 20 calls per day!. Includes pharmacies but not sure which staff would qualify for calls, ie: RN's etc, outside of docs. Territory is enormous, mine would be 3 hours plus in each direction. .21cents a mile, your own car, and 600 a month allowance. Basically about 70 percent of what a drug rep would do at half the base!. If your out of work and desperate then maybe, but I am going to pass. F2F next week I think for some in Philly, offer tended by 3/13, start home study on 3/25.

Wow....combine service reps at half the pay and add emails and remote reps.....DONE! That's a way to trim down cost for sure. If I were respiratory, I would be worried.

Come back to this post in one month. I’m a BI Respiratory Rep. We will still be here, with larger geographic areas. All the Ashfield reps - GONE don’t listen to stupid incompetent ASSFIELD managers like U know who, you will all be gone. Who told me? My BI manager. Oh, btw, they are not filling any open positions. Very telling.

Did you miss Post #5 about Ashfield hiring Nationwide?

Larger Geographical Territories = Fewer Reps Overall.

My manager did not need to tell me that information.

no one seems to have any idea. I wouldn’t trust anyone who claims to know with certainty what is going to happen. Bi not Ashfield.
Having said that, yes, best guesses seem to be larger territories and fewer reps. What that means for Ashfield ? Not sure. but don’t think good things.

This is the customer service role....not real sales.

Yes...but this is how they are trying to replace your butt. They think it might be just as effective and at half the cost.
Well think about it. What new message do we have? We are nothing but sample dropping caterers. Respiratory had it's day. Now it's time to move on to pastures with new potential.

When things are considered- why the need for bs director level people as well as sales reps.
Territory can be “serviced” with Ashfield 2 to 1 and all guided with clinical direction by HSBS & KAM
Face it the days of being a jolly fat BIPI rep are numbered. Everyone has little true Necessity

You make a good point. But ask the question. Why do you need the overpaid HSBS reps?

What have they done??

An HSBS has less work and responsibility then Ashfield.

Ashfield reps are:

pleasing two bosses
doing paperwork for two companies
having to please some good and incompetent BI reps and work within their system
While being compensated less so Ashfield gets their cut...

Most HSBS reps are territorial/protecting turf while the business goes to pot...

BI has all options on the table. That being most current Ashfield reps will most likely not make the cut. This is a money decision by BI and what they pay Ashfield. Not a decision on the Ashfield rep.

KAMs only care about making crap up to put on their MBOs and KAMs and HSBS are not clinical.

I don’t think the respiratory contract w Ashfield is ending. The Ashfield boss said they signed a contract and are very happy with the Reps. Any other thoughts on job security?

Our CBD said no more overlay positions. All BI will have a position but they may not like where they end up. CV and metabolic combining with smaller, 1 person territories. Respiratory losing overlay with one person and larger base territories. If I were Ashfield, I would start looking and don't wait.
