When on a plan…t

YOU are misinformed. What HR policy is a manager violating if they look at your calendar in Veeva daily? They can look at your tolls through an expense report. They can call offices to see the last time a rep has been in the office (I know managers who have done this) and compare it to activity. Won’t work in larger offices or hospitals but it will in smaller ones. If a manager has a reason to believe someone isn’t working they have every right to look into activity - with the help of HR or HR’s knowledge. Speaking from experience
Tell the manager to touch himself all over

There you just proved my point “w help from HR”. So they don’t over step policy. Bottom line you agree w/ my post you just hate to be proved wrong. Typical NVS .

Seriously question- no need to stupid answers, please.

What happens at Novartis, and what does it entail, when a rep is put on a plan?

(sales numbers are meeting goals)

If any of these jag off companies (and they are all terrible) put you on a plan, then you just need to move on and find another job.

Your manager clearly does not have your back in these situations. These companies are all dysfunctional pieces of garbage.

You have to learn this in life and learn it fast: Use these companies like they use you. Don't work too hard. In fact, barely work as much as possible and take their money (especially companies that are still putting employees on plans).

Finally, when you look for another job in this situation, you are holding the cards because your are more marketable to others. So, use that to your advantage NOW.

Also, go on short term disability if you need to buy time.

And one more thing, the next company you work for will appreciate you and you will have a manager that hired you, that probably likes you. So, you are starting fresh.

All these companies in Corporate America are terrible. There are no exceptions. Remember that, and you will be better off. Just get used to spending less money in life, and find retirement as soon as you can, and possibly a less stressful job. They are out there. These lesser paying jobs are better than the stress you will endure working for these terrible companies. You will live longer as well. Stress is a killer.

Good luck and keep us posted. Lots of smart people on here that can help.

I wish you the best.

And you as a rep have every right to check on what your manager does all day. The fact of the matter is that the majority of ABL’s bring little or no value to anything. They are an outdated and useless cog in a wheel of smoke and mirrors.

A lot of good advice here. This is not unique to Novartis. If you choose to stay in this industry, you'll see it happen over and over again.
Do yourself the biggest favor of your life and start over elsewhere. If your manager has a shred of decency, they will understand that you are spending your days looking for a new job and leave you alone.
Just don't wait too long, as you will not be with Novartis at the end of the year one way or the other.
To you, all the best and good luck.
To the awful fuck who put you on a PIP, here's hoping things are worse when it's your turn.

Your parents must be so proud of you. Then again, u probly grew up in a pro union liberal family so it’s not your fault that u are a drain on this company and certainly the country.

This was a long time ago but when I worked for Novartis, I was put on a PIP and managed to survive it. My numbers were decent but my DM and I couldn’t stand each other. He was an alcoholic, abusive asshat that was sleeping with his female reps despite having a beautiful young family.

The PIP was all bullshit and HR protected my DM. I knew I was on my way out.

What ended up happening was I switched sales forces - another DM took pity on me and hired me when he had an opening. When I was put on the plan, I made it well known that I was being targeted and that I was looking to get out. I won P club a year later.

Good luck.

I call bullshit on this! NO WAY HR would approve a lateral move for someone on a plan or “does not meet”.

This person gets it, although they’re a bit too cynical for my taste, but that’s ok, most of what they stated is true. I learned early, never on a plan myself, that one should extradite themselves from a company ASAP after having been placed on a plan. I’ve heard this countless times.

It is not worth the stress involved to fight a plan, unless the ABL is such an egregious moron where you have a case to get their ass fired. Otherwise, they’ve got the power. Move on and work towards the end, the end meaning retirement.

I am an A-list actor when it comes to “playing the game.” I do and say all the right things, smile, generally enthusiastic, furrow the eyebrows from time to time to mimic deep thought, etc..

Please keep us up to date on how things progress and please advise if our advice doesn’t apply to you for some reason.

Good luck!
