When is Xeljanz going be right sized- tripping over reps

When is the dead braintrust of I&I going to downsize & make Xeljanz right?
I am tired of tripling over my counterpart to see offices. Tired of them tagging along every lunch & breakfast so they can check an activity call metric box the VP wants for SOV.

Literally we both only have enough to do for 3hrs a day & paying a territory 300k yr for this is absolutely a waste of money.
The same geography we launched w 1 rep, now eight 8yrs later we have 4 reps in the same geography! That is insane & flat out stupid, allowing marketing to dictate rep headcount by SOV.. at programs we have as many reps as physicians. NOBODY in corp america would run a business like this in other industries . What a waste

Yes we have 70% more reps than we need since UC is Black Box Last Line Before Surgery & projected UC sales in GI was 2.6billion a yr by 2021 will now be 100mil if lucky.

This is division is F ing messed up x1000.
If I had known the disaster 2yrs ago when I came over from Vaccines, I would have never came. Fell for DMs & currents reps BS on the division. Maybe it was great before the debacle expansion as they say, but since I lateraled over during the expansion 2yrs ago it has been the most Royal Cluster F one could ever imagine. Hopefully Biogen or Advance Therapeutics opens up in my area.
Literally doing joint calls w counterpart and going in field rides together to get call metrics in . Its is an embarrassing disgrace

Yes this is the worse division I ve been a part of in my 15yrs. I was fortunate to come over about 5 yrs before the expansion 2yrs & experience how good the culture & leadership were. It wasnt off the charts great but was pretty good with highly skills smaller sales force of just 120.
Agree the implosion came with the expansion 2yrs ago w water down Primary Care reps & DMs. 120 so reps went to 265 with most from Primary Care or external GI which is more elementary skills than PC/IM.
10 DMs went to 26 with most from PC only having foundational metric driven skills. Decent task managers but zero leadership to inspire & motivate.
Even though the cliff came w the expansion, I also agree the cracks started 3yrs ago w Angela Wong deciding to put Derm with specialty I&I. That division is 100% primary care high call freq model. Their simplistic foundational skills and mindset bleed over to Xeljanz--- that is when the cracks started before the cliff of the expansion crashed a once good high functioning division.

Now the reps, DMs and VP Pres all are not qualified so you have the titantic sinking

GF you are so right about these 2 rep mirror territories . 150 too many reps. We have to go on appointments, breakfasts, & lunches together just to get call avg to 4 calls day. Comical but sad having paying 2reps 300k to make joint calls.

Seriously 100 docs at maybe 30 offices only need 1 rep, not 2.
And some mirrored 2 rep terr do not even have a 100 docs in TCL.
Only free loaders like this system so they can ride coat tails of the good rep in the terr.

Agree! This "right sizing" can not happen soon enough or the best reps will bolt.
1 rep should have a TCL load of 125-150 docs for 2-3wk rotation w an easy 7 calls a day PERIOD. With Xeljanz most of these RA & GI docs are multiple physician office anyway.
Totally poor business to be paying 300k a territory to call on 125 so docs.

Calm down & enjoy 3hr days with joint counterpart calls while you can.
I&I conducting a headcount optimization project S2 & have been directed to look for areas to cut costs as well as consolidate geographies, so you will get your down sizing soon enough.
VERP 2 is coming for older reps

The newer Xeljanz reps last 2yrs are lazy freeloaders and the 35 younger reps dont have a clue of hard work. Many were PC reps their DMs were promoting out bad talent. I&I so cluless they hired them.
Only worse reps in the entire co other than Xeljanz is Derm & Biosimilar. All 3 are in I&I, imagine that.
Sad thing few yrs ago it was just 86 Xeljanz reps & one of the better divisions with Oncology
 




The headcount is so F ing bad with Xeljanz we are tripping over each other during joint virtual calls talking over each other on this primary care PACE selling model..... excuse me Virtual Pace now.
Division is a total disaster & 60% too many reps just 1 of many issues..

Heard the same thing-- that new Global Pres Blackburn wants massive reductions & that in itself was the disagreement on vision/future of I&I with the NA Pres & VP who both left 6 months ago. Replaced by not prepared or developed Pres & VP that will follow orders given from Blackburn.
Was going to be 2nd half 2020 but now look for Jan 2021.
Candidly it needs to be done though, other than Abbvie who in the industry has 2-3 reps for 100 docs (some less like 70 docs??) And paying 150k total comp each rep 300-450k for less than 100 docs in maybe 30 offices??? It is a total waste of $$ and joke
This is why we are tripping over each other & nothing to do after 11am
 




Hopefully the MOF soon! This is most ridiculious sales force alignment structure in the history of pharma industry.
2-3 reps to call on 77 docs in 30 offices is absurd! POS HQ is clueless. New VP manufacturing marketing tool is all about SOV - share voice & calls.
