What is up in Florida??

Central South & Florida merged. Service will be streamlined, extra fat will be removed.

OK, you are talking in code that essentially means a number of experienced people will lose their jobs and service to the customer will be compromised further. Once again LabCorp will be dependent on business dictated by contracts instead of the quality of the service.

It means we're losing a lot of good middle management due to duplicate management, I guess. Not much yet in Florida. Looks like the old South Central division is getting hit hard, though. We're two different cultures, though, not sure how we're supposed to mesh into one culture.

SO WHAT ELSE IS NEW ????? STANDARD AT LCA ?

It appears that middle and upper-middle managers are being eliminated along with at least 2 upper mgt. Huge areas and large numbers of employees are being assigned to talented, but overwhelmed managers with less experience. More than ever there will be management by the numbers and little interaction with or concern for employees.

This South Central and Florida division merger has been a joke. Ok, you are losing your job, but we have open positions for you to apply for, oh, but we don't know what those open positions are.

So far everything in done in the south central was wrong, everything in florida is right, even though we were a better division in the south central. RM lab guy from florida is a joke, got his nose so far up VB's butt its pitiful. RM is ruining our lab. DR knows nothing about accessioning, but she is our leader LOL. JW the hr lady cant answer a question because she talks all the time. Well I guess thats what happens in a merger, good people are lost just because some people are kissing VB's butt, and thats the way he likes it.

Well on to other things, 20 years down the tubes

Florida is not a model for anything good. Hopelessly short staffed, except of course in RMs lab. Bham HAD a very good lab. The functional department organization is a pitiful exercise in who's on first. No one is in charge of the entire operation until you get to the SVP. Has become extremely political and the results are not there. Good luck to the South Central.

Is Florida (and unfortunately the South Central, now) a microcosm of the entire company or just its own self-contained mess? So many good people have been cut that would have made this a more successful Division. Many more of the good ones are leaving of their own accord.

Came back for a visit- got riffed 5 years ago! Does not sound like anything has changed except for the names. There is a much better life outside of LCA. It is amazing the relief when you work for another company that is not as discriminating and compromising as the good ole boys in Burlington. There are some great people at LCA however the bad apples make the company stink.

Lots of talk going on at UT. NC about to leave everybody worried who us coming in to take his place. Praying it isn't SN. Watch these Florida people screw this up and loose this business, get prepared!!!
