What happened to the SF and LA reps

I know the SF rep and she's a decent rep. The problem is the San Francisco territory even the best reps will have trouble staying busy. The Sf territory is also very conservative when it comes to stocking and getting new drugs on formulary. Management needs to understand this about San Francisco and give the rep a longer leash. It reflects poorly on a company to have a new rep every 6months.

She came from years and years of big pharma office based sales where you can luck out with a great territory and ride the wave. Sounds like she couldn't hack it launching a drug in the hospital. 20 hrs a week isn't going to cut here. Also, SF is the worse place to sell a hospital drug. Ucsf, Sf gen, Cpmc... you're getting nothing done in those hospitals.

You are pretty pathetic for trying to make a negative comment about someone else. Unless you shadowed this person, you have no idea how much she worked or her skill level. Do us all a favor and just worry about yourself without having the need to make a negative comment about someone else. Clearly you are a jerk.

Relax, I'm not bashing. All I'm saying is that the office based world is very very different from hospital. If you only have office exp you will need 6months to learn institutional sales. Also, the SF territory is known for chewing up reps. You have brutal access (ucsf sfgen Cpmc) and SF is very very conservative with adding new drugs on formulary. Good luck trying to backdoor a ucsf doc. All I'm saying is the SF rep was in over her head and the SF territory doesn't help. Sorry if I offended you, Sf rep.

So what happened to the SF rep? Did she quit or get fired? What about the LA rep? I'm trying to get a pulse on the company. Reps leaving after 6 months of launch is never a good sign.

Isn't it obvious? They quit. They were not doing any worse than a lot of the other reps and the company wouldn't begin letting people go this early in the game even if it was to prevent fear and a mass exodus. If you are considering this job based on everything you know now, then you are crazy. Most would agree if they knew what they know now in terms of micromanagement and all the current challenges and difficulties, they would never have taken the job. It sounds like you are trying to convince yourself to take the job - if you have to do that, then it isn't right for you. Don't you see the red flags?

Bullshit...I know the SF rep quite well...she was a hospital rep prior to Cadence for years, not primary care, had pretty hard accounts incl. Stanford and UCSF, and was a highly successful rep at that with numerous accolades. SF is a hard territory as someone stated in this thread already. If she's gone because they didn't see the movement they wanted to in this short time, that definitely reflects in the ignorance of management.

I don't know the SF rep, I heard she sold an office based product but I could be wrong. Regardless, SF is a beast of a territory and I have seen it chew up many a rep. My question is did she tap out or did she get fired? This is a big deal in determining the culture of the company.

Based upon this reply, sounds like she was definitely let go. Sorry to hear:( Best of luck finding something better.

That's great news for anyone interested in applying for SF! A rep quitting because she couldn't get it done is one thing but getting fired after six months is indicative of poor upper management. I may just put my resume in.

Be careful, the SF hiring manager is a turd.
Hot headed ex-Scios guy who lacks maturity and poor management skills.

I could see the reps leaving because they can't stand him.

The SF territory is no joke. If the goal is to get your drug on formulary within a specified period of time, you have to contend with access issues, the fact that they aren't going to convene a special P&T meeting just to review your drug, apathy, and a general disdain for reps, especially at the academic institutions. So "getting it done" sometimes simply cannot happen due to dynamics in the territory. I think Stanford is doing well, but they were also involved in the studies, or at least I think they were. In the city you have CPMC, San Fran General, and UCSF being the main accts. They just don't invite you in and tell you that they will start using your product. I used to live there and called on SF exclusively, and this was 4 years ago. It was hard then, and I'm sure it's more of a bitch at this point. I know reps that are still there and successful, but they have both been there for 10 years and have rock-hard relationships in the same space. Be careful what you wish for.

Well said. If I can give some advice to any potential candidates. Makes sure SF includes the peninsula, east bay or marin. If the territory is only SF you're not going to enjoy monthly field rides

how do you get that she was definitely let go based on the reply? It says "if she's gone..." which doesn't confirm that she was or wasn't let go.

How many times do we have to state it? She wasn't let go! Stop causing trouble idiot. Besides, do you think a new company would start firing people so early on? So stop it dude.
