What do you drive for a car?

I've used the car allowance for different types of cars. I have bought a used Camery which with pymt and insurance was about $400 month and pocket $300. I have leased a BMW 330 for $319month with insurance of $80 a month, and currently I bought a 2 year old Mercedes 500 SL sedan for $700 and my insurance is $125 a month-- so I just write off all the insurance on my taxes. You can either drive a luxury car or you can get a good used economy car with good gas milage and pocket some money-- its up to you.

Cool, it took 40 posts to answer my question....hey, thanks. Glad you're all not dicks.

i drive a 03 camry that i still pocket a little after payment and insurance. At .48 per mile after i pay for fuel and car payment i make over $1000.00 a month on mileage alone. I am on the lowly immunology side of DNA and still made $36,000. in bonus and contest money. Yep, pretty shitty company.

Who gives a f#@k what car you drive. You are a complete idiot. I am going to take the job, based on what the car allowance is. Wake up buttwipe. You are the narrow minded slob who is hurting this company because we are expanding so fast. Any dimwit who is reluctant to join the company because of a car allowance....should have the offer rescinded. Buy a friggin Bentley for all I care. Just get it it in the morning and go to work. If it makes you feel any better, buy a 4-door Malibu. Make you feel just like you were back at "We will do the thinking for you" Pharmaceuticals.

Seriously dude- take some Xanax. All new reps have this question. Can you possibly think back to the eternity of 2 years ago when you were hired?! And what type of questions did you have when you started, genius?

For the OP- Ignore the trolls. Ask around in your division- and there already some good responses on this post. Good luck.

Don't lease a vehicle, it does not make sense with the miliage you will accumulate and the good allowance that your receive. I bought an 06 Grand Prix 10,000 miles for 17K. I put a good amount down, so my car payment is nothing. I realize that it's not the sexiest car, but it is dependable, clean, and cheap. You know that you will be driving the shit out of it, parking close to cars all day, everyday. Invest or save the extra money which you make. It's the smartest thing to do. Who gives a shit what you drive, as long as it's not a complete clunker.

Just find a nice car that someone else has already paid too much for and it is coming off of a lease with 36k miles like a lexus or Acura and buy it for around 18k. Drive the wheels off of it and then go buy another one in 3 or 4 years with the money you made by driving a used car. A good car is the Toyota Avalon.

Be smart about this and save a lot of money with this car plan.

Ford F350 super crew with dual rear wheels and a confederate flag on the back window - the RNs and office staff love to "ride" in the back seat with Tobey Keith blaring on the HiFi radio!! 8 MPG and 2-3 fill ups a day but I get points for buying so much gas. Used to drive a Geo Metro but got rear ended and it kind of hurt.
Doc's think I am pretty cool too, the tree huggers who drive a Prius or Beetle aren't so psyched to see me come.

He frequently checks Cafe Pharma to see which of his reps rip him a new ass because he is a major fuck up. So stay off kid!
And what car did you buy?

I have worked with him and have nothing but GREAT things to say. Obviously, this person does not even know who he is and most likely does not even work for the company. Talk with people at your next meeting.

I always drive convertibles. I also had a Honda pilot I loved. Now that both my kids are driving, I drive convertibles just because in the days I had an ugly company car, I would buy a fun car on the side. Now, I have the company help pay for my fun car. I trade them in when I get 48,000 miles, so they don't depreciate a ton. So every 1 1/2 to 2 years, I swap for something newer. Right now I have BMW 325. My favorite was the cooper, but they are tiny and kind of ugly, but get 44 mpg

OMG!!! You are giving out competitive information that may cause the demise of Genentech and possibly the entire biopharma industry!!! Do you realize what you have done!!!!!
