What’s Going On With FAS?

What’s the deal with our FAS organization? My Gastro FAS just left and she told me 3 of the best in the country have also left in the past week! It sounds like they are totally unappreciated and undervalued. I don’t know how we are going to launch without their support.

If they came from within they're grossly underpaid. Many FAS will tell you they ended up taking a pay cut despite going to grade 18. The pay disparity between internal and external FAS hires is almost embarrassing. People are leaving and getting $40k base pay increases. Can't blame them for leaving, especially with all the micromanagement now.

yes. Big pay disparity with even the highest paid fas being underpaid compared to market. Many gastro sr managers are nice but the director is not bright and people know it

Unfortunately only the legacy Abbott FAS are going to stay, because they're chained to the pension. Most FAS are actively entertaining opportunities elsewhere.
Are you referring to the brainwashed population who don't think they can ever leave Abbvie, that the world will come to an end if they do, and who because of their naivity are grossly underpaid and taken advantage of?

FAS should add a T and get out of their FAST. Abbvie reputation with employees is really crap. The culture has become a cesspool of losers like GM, JD, MF, BN, JS, RD, AM, and more.

The situation is that once you get into an FAS role, there is no where else to go. It is a DEAD END! The Sr Mgmt does not value what they bring. They have no idea how many scripts are "fixed" by that team... The micromanagement brought over by "Commercial" is terrible. They are running off everyone that are 1/2 way decent. If you are legacy AbbVie/Abbott you are just biding time to retire (AbbVie retirement) and taking a new position with a new Company at a roughly $40k to $60k base pay increase. The territories are HUGE and the return is so low once you figure in AIP, Stock that is doing terrible, etc. Then you add in toxic leadership and you have a perfect storm...

FAS at Abbvie is a glorified sales job. Why do you think they refuse to call them FRM's like the rest of the industry?
It not inaccurate to call them FAS because they really don’t deal with reimbursement. Almost exclusively focused on part D, self-administered drugs rather than part B, physician-administered drugs. Big difference.

Well, their true title is Field Access and Reimbursement Manager - I am going for one and that was made clear in the Gastro side. Something about an RA.

I am a little nervous about all the turnover there. It seems like the Director over there is not really respected.

Here Twinkie consumption and Botox use is legendary

It's like that in every division of FAS @ Abbvie. Sr. Mgrs and Directors have ongoing conversations about the turnover, but they've eventually given up on convincing Abbvie to do what is needed to retain them. So they're essentially training FRM's for other companies with about a 18-24 month turnover cycle.

Blame their toxic, micro-managing culture with primary care managers with no patient services experience trying to manage FAS like primary care sales reps. You want to fix that culture? Get rid of primary care people managers and hire true patient services leaders. FAS joke about their Sr. Mgr team privately. They're clueless, but they think they're great.
