We need Pfizer!!!

AstraZeneca cannot stand alone and needs leadership like Pfizer. AZ has proven time after time we lack the ability to move market share. How many times have we launched new products and got clobbered in the market? Answer: TOO MANY TIMES!

This is a great deal and better than we will ever get. We do not have the smarts to go forward in our current state. We should be so lucky what Pfizer has offered.

Shareholders need to smell the coffee and take the deal.

Pfizer cannot stand alone as well and needs companies like AstraZeneca to survive. It will take what it needs until the patents and pipelines bleed out, then look to feed on the next host to replenish its stores. Pfizer is merely a corporate raiding marketing company that incidentally sells pharmaceuticals.

We do not need them and they will do nothing good for us! Need them like we need a hole in our heads. They need AZ, AZ does not need Pfizer!

Get over it man, deal is dead. Google Astrazeneca Pfizer and read the headlines. Everyone is against the deal now.

I suppose it depends on whether or not you drink the Kool-Aid or where you are reading.

Bloomberg 6 hours ago:

Pfizer Inc. (PFE:US) isn’t going to give up that easily when a $100 billion deal is on the line.

The largest U.S. drugmaker is pursuing AstraZeneca Plc (AZN:US) to gain a pipeline of cancer treatments that may help reverse a sales slump (PFE:US). While AstraZeneca has so far been an unwilling seller, there’s an 80 percent chance the deal gets done given that AstraZeneca’s share price may otherwise collapse, Morningstar Inc. said. The stock (AZN:US) is also reflecting high odds of the transaction closing, with AstraZeneca up 24 percent since Pfizer’s interest was first made public last month.

AZ stock is down 7% since the initial jump to 82.68 on the announcement of possible buyout. Volume was really high today, so something may be happening over the weekend to either pump it back up or send it back down in the 60's where it was before the announcement.

If anyone needs to smell the coffee, it's you! When Pfizer buys a company, they are buying the products, not the people. When they purchased Wyeth, they got rid of 80% of the sales force. Wake up. They have their own sales force, research facilities, and human resources etc. They do not need duplicates.

For those of you less seasoned reps on this site, be aware that Pfizer is the ultimate example of evil large corporate america. It is a machine, with no human quality. It's purpose is to deliver to Wall Street no matter the cost...a desperate hungry predator which devours whatever crosses its path. It does not give, but takes, takes, takes.

It is this organization which gave pharma the negative reputation with multiple rep territories, elaborate boondoggles for docs, and generous payments for "consulting". Now those days are gone, it has a weak R&D, and leadership only knows how to takeover other companies, and restructure to clear profit for shareholders.

It truly is a disgraceful company to be in healthcare and I will be very sorry if it does take over Astrazeneca. For those of you who wish for this to happen, you must not have other experiences outside Astrazeneca to realize what a great culture this company has. I feel fortunate to be a part of it, and will regret if Pfizer takes over, as the culture will be emaciated.

It's pretty much understood there will be a significant downsizing but the fact of the matter is most of us want that to happen. I want my severance package and the push to look for other opportunities. My entire district hasn't really put much effort into their jobs in years. In fact, most people around our region are sitting around collecting a paychecks and doing only the minimum. It would be very smart for Pfizer to buy us. It would help put some motivation back into the lives of those who would be downsized. Just a guess but those who don't want the sale to go through are those who don't want to work very hard.

Good for you. I support my family and carry all the insurance and benefits. I am 56 years old and cannot retire yet and have not been with AZ long enough to get squat. I need my job and enjoy working. There is no way I think these mega mergers/takeovers are a good thing. Pfizer does this all them time and they still suck. That should tell you something.

Read the news Dudes. The UK and Scandinavian governments are negotiating with Pfizer to salvage the jobs of their citizens in order to approve the sale. So your job will be toast because one way or another Ian has to chop a certain number of jobs to cover the acquisition. It's all over but the haggling over a few points in the price.

You think Pfizer shareholders realize they will OWE capital gains? So, while the company saves 15 percent in taxes (Whoopee!), the shareholders will pay and get screwed. The last I read the top two shareholders at AZ were AGAINST the takeover because Pfizer is such a dirty company.
