Way To Go

Clueless? Why don't you go post on your company board, that is if you have a company board...stop bothering us and putting down our people because your mad your not here anymore, or you were fired, or things didn't go your way. Thought the grass was greener on the other side and maybe you found out it wasn't? SG and GD are great guys.

Scott how many times a day do you post on here anyway???? No one who was ever at the company very long didn't realize how messed up Scott was.

Pleeze, Scott is a real man, that is a father and does things with his girls and actually goes home to his wife and spends time with his wife. Seriously doubt he spends time on these boards. Go bark trouble somewhere else.

Understand your concern, but SG and GD put this entire company in jeopardy by thinking that Makena would be successful at grossly exhorbitant prices??? The FDA, March of Dimes, ACOG and investors have all said otherwise. It is time for those responsible for this to be held accountable.

actually I am going to put a different perspective on this. I will not say who I am but will say I have this knowledge first hand.

the pricing of $1500 per injection came from a pricing analysis study - looking at elasticty from a payor perspective. David Van Vliet took this price to the board and against the best advice of GD it was taken as the launch pricing.

this price was then used to present future financial models for KV in order to get more borrowing during the reign of DVV.

By the time GD took control, this genie was already baked into various debt agreements.

Sad but reality that the DVV fiasco has had such a devasting long lasting effect on the demise of KV!!

Who in their right mind launches a $1500 drug in a recession. The only way this would work is if a big pharma company did it. You need the money to throw rebates at the managed companies. In most states the generic will have to fail 3 times before you can even use a new product. And if insurance does not reimburse you for it no doctors office will use it.

Get out this ship is sinking.

Sounds like you know what you are talking about and someone that has it out for Scott needs to get their life together and stop with their rumor mill. Their life must be so sad or in such disaray that they must try and ruin anothers.

Well that settles it. You are off the hook Mr. Gedeke. Previous poster you are retarded. Read the lawsuits. It was SG and the marketing team that sent out the letter in dispute that went directly against the FDA ruling. SG and GD will be held accountable and maybe just like Van Vilet.

Maybe DVV, GD, and SG all need to go down...but you have to feel sorry for them, they inherited a hot mess.

As if KV Pharmaceutical wasn't roiling with enough intrigue already: In addition to criminal convictions, a wave of firings, bickering executives, and legal wrangling, the Bridgeton-based drug company now must defend itself against a class-action lawsuit.

The suit, filed yesterday in federal court, is being brought by folks who purchased KV stock last Spring. The plaintiffs allege that the company was less than up-front about its "financial well-being, business operations, and prospects" at that time.

Specifically, the plaintiffs claim, KV failed to disclose that the FDA hadn't granted the company exclusive distribution rights to Makena -- a hormone injection used by pregnant women to lower the risk of premature birth.

Nor, they allege, did KV level with investors about Makena's $1500 price tag per dosage, and how that would "decrease meaningful demand."

An Exclusive, Imaginary, Interview With KV Pharmaceutical CEO Greg Divis.
Drugmonkey- Thanks for taking the time to talk with me Mr. Divis.

Divis- Thank you for the opportunity Drugmonkey, I'm really excited to share some wonderful news. We've cut the price of our blockbuster FDA approved product, Makena, by over 50%!! I know how passionately you believe in affordable, accessible health care for all Americans, so I'm sure we can both agree this is incredibly exciting!!

DM- Well, first let's back up a little bit for those people who may not be familiar with Makena and what it does. Maybe you could tell us a little bit about it.

Divis: Absolutely! Makena is our brand name for the drug 17-hydroxyprogesterone, and it's the only product approved by the FDA to reduce the risk of premature birth, a devastating event that happens to one in eight babies born in this country. Drugmonkey, that is one in eight babies too many. While we're proud that our FDA approved product will reduce the risk by around 20 percent, we will not rest until each and every child in the United States enters this world healthy and with all the advantages modern medicine has to offer.

DM- I see. And this price cut of yours is part of your effort to help you get some rest at night?

Divis- Well, I'm not sure I'd put it that way, but a 50 percent price cut will make a big difference for everyone involved!!

DM- A price cut to around $700 a week.

Divis- Yes.

DM- Meaning at one time you were charging over $1400.

Divis- A small price to pay for a healthy child I'm sure we can both agree.

DM- Do you think I'm stupid?

Divis- Excuse me?

DM- I said do you think I'm stupid? Do you think that I don't know that pharmacists have been compounding 17-hydroxyprogesterone themselves for years and selling it for around $20 a week? And let me tell you something about compounding pharmacies. They are not known as outposts for value. If they're charging $20, I can assure you the cost of this stuff is a tiny fraction of that. Where the fuck do you get off charging $700?

Divis- Ours is FDA approved!!

DM- Meaning?

Divis- Meaning Makena is manufactured in an FDA-regulated and FDA-compliant, sterile facility.

DM- You mean ones like a company such as Johnson and Johnson would use to make their medicines?

Divis- Yes.....wait... no!!

DM- Isn't it true you're just taking advantage of expectant mothers who aren't savvy enough to realize the only difference between your product and what a compounding pharmacy would dispense are the papers you pushed around to get some bureaucrat's seal of approval?

Divis- We feel that in the current political climate, people really want to depend on Big Government. That people are craving to be told exactly what to do by far away impersonal power.

DM- Good luck with that.

Divis- Say, are you writing this as a representative of the large corpro-pharmacy that employs you?

DM- I'm actually glad you asked that sir. You see, I've always operated under the assumption that you would have to be a fucking idiot not to realize that everything I write using my personal social media accounts represents only my own personal views. But evidently, my last, small shred of faith in the intelligence of the human race is not one that's shared by some large pharmacy corporations.

Divis- If it's one thing those of us in the business world know Drugmonkey, it's that there is no shortage of fucking idiots on this planet. They are a powerful force, and while that power most often leads to awesome destruction or at least incredible frustration, properly harnessed, it can bring you riches beyond your wildest dreams.

DM- And that, sir, is finally something we can both agree on.

Disclaimer- While the story of Makena is true, this interview took place only in my imagination.

By 'patients who qualify' do you mean the people who are so strapped for cash that they cannot afford $20 a week? These individuals have no business having children at all until they can afford to have them. Perhaps we would do better to give out FREE contraception instead and stop the cycle.
